Poll question: How should I end my novel?
I am indecisive about the closing scene - something that sums it all up and possibly puts mud in the eye of the villain. The working title is Et tu, Carrot?

(A)Villain says, "Curses. Foiled again!" (puts own eye out with carrot)

(B)Hero grabs carrot from villain, says, "You won't be needing this anymore." ...then hurls carrot over a cliff...

(C)Villain says to sherriff, "I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for this squishy carrot." Hero receives hero's welcome at sherriff's office. They all eat the carrot.

(D)Villain attacks hero with carrot. They wrestle in a clinch. Villain stabs hero through heart with carrot. Hero falls forward, thus stabbing villain through heart with dull end of carrot. Both die.

(E)Hero has villain in headlock. Someone runs up to hero and says, "Hey, they vandalized your room, man." Hero runs away to tend messed-up room. Villain gets away. (setup for sequel)

(F)Villain and Hero discover deep love and longing for each other. They establish a domestic partnership.

3. E
you'll have an easier time getting published if you've already got the sequel set up. Publishers :scared: worry about one-hit-wonder authors.

7. Michael O'Donoghue's School of Writing Good...
Dictates that stories are best ended this way: "And then he was hit by a truck."

If there are several characters with loose ends that need wrapping, the ending may be altered thusly: "And then they were all hit by a truck."

Hope this helps. :D
