22. Saw this catoon once...
It showed Caesar as an old man in bed with a young woman. He had his hands up in the air and was shouting, "Vene!"

8. No
It was not offered at my high school, only Spanish and French. After taking classical mythology my junior year in college, I wanted to take Latin but it conflicted with a course that I had to take my senior year to finish my major.

9. I actually took it in Junior High
And no, I don't remember anything about it. Except for the fact that 6 is "sex" in Latin. We laughed and laughed about that one.

10. Yeah I took four years in high school,
and four years later I have managed to forget almost all of it. I only remember a few quotes that I was fond of.

Utinam populus Romanus unam cervicem haberet.

That was from Caligula, but it could have easily have been said by Bush* too.

12. Two years in High School...
But I'd already been exposed by going to Mass in the old days. You used a Missal with the Latin on one side & English translation on the other. The Latin mass is a beautiful thing with ancient roots.

Latin really does help with English vocabulary. It also helped me get a grip on Spanish when I finally began serious study.

I only wish language learning had begun earlier in life; kids really do learn it more easily.

13. Not in high school
I did have four years of French, though. I wish we would have had it.

When I got to college I took a course on Latin and Greek roots of english. That was one of the most useful courses I had.

19. five years
in High School. And I forgot all of it immediately after the final exam ("Latinum") - I'm able to get the drift of Italian and Spanish articles, that's all what's left.

As a result, I'm not very good at it.

I can usually read simple Latin. That's about it.

24. Not Latin, but lots of others.
I studied French, German and Russian in University. When I was in grade 8, I thought German was such a cool language, I borrowed Language Lesson LP's from the Library and half-taught myself.
Since then, I've dabbled in Japanese, Finnish and recently, Scots Gaelic.
Any others here similarly afflicted?
