Florida DUers, check in.
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 06:37 PM by JohnLocke

We have the unique distinction of being the smartest people in the best state ever...with the worst governor, Jeb "Devious Plans" Bush.

But we still live in the best state ever, so check in now, y'll, and give your location.

1. Orlando
And I would just like to say that Florida will make up for Election 2000 big in 04. Everyone I know is going to the polls to vote for Kerry in November.

And last I heard, a Miami Herald article reported Kerry was ahead here by 7 points!

23. Here too
but I disagree about Florida being the best state ever. Sadly, it has one of the worst educational systems in America, to name just one of a horrendous list of problems. I'll stay long enough to vote, but I'll be moving Northwards soon after!

2. I'm here! Tampa Bay area...
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/orl-asecelect20x032004mar20,0,1774252.story?coll=sfla-home-headlines

The 132-mile stretch from Daytona Beach to Tampa Bay is once again seen as a major route to the White House.

But this is not the same Interstate 4 corridor that handed President Bush a 4,400-vote buffer in his bitterly fought presidential contest with Al Gore.

Since 2000, the rolls of registered voters in the seven counties connected by I-4 have swelled by 156,000 to 2.4 million, with the Democratic ranks growing twice as fast as the Republican. However, the dramatic surge has come in the numbers of people registering as independents.

The St. Pete Times is a great paper. I just can't read the letters to the editor anymore. Too much stupidity.

Before I forget, it's also one of the very few independently owned papers in the country.

18. ah, I'm paying 35 cents.
:) And here I thought it was non-profit because it wanted to be independent and not the fascist Trib. That was putting it nicely cause I think the Trib is a rag.

9. Saint Augustine, the oldest continuously inhabited city of European
origins in the United States. And one of the most charming cities in the US. Come visit and stay a week or two. See the few small pockets that are left of the real Florida coastal region before urban sprawl and the developers concrete the whole freakin' state and we have one megapolis from Miami to Bangor, Maine...

14. Fort Pierce here
I moved here two years ago from Houston, Texas, so I am used to having a Bush as governor. But I have to say, I love living in Florida and wished I moved here years ago! When you have 5 state parks within 30 minutes, beach 5 minutes away, and live in a nationally-protected area (Indian River Lagoon), who could not love it?

24. I was born there
well, White City actually. Nice to see someone else appreciates its natural beauty.
My grandfather (with partners) owned what is now the Savannahs Recreational Area. It used to be a sand mine.
My favorite beach is Frederick Douglas State Park. Usually empty and unspoiled...at least it was when I left.
Homesick??? oh just a tad.....
