Movies you saw while medicated that were only good when medicated?
We're speaking legal medication. I'm on some pain meds from throwing out my back, and I'm watching the new Rollerball. I know with one part of my mind that the film is shit, but on another level I'm enjoying it.

I feel so dirty.

1. I guess this fits in the Showgirls/B-Movie group of cult films
Too stupid to have been made; too stupid not to lay down a track of MST3K to it.

Swamp Thing: The movie bad.

2. "The Wall". Also "Rocky Horror Picture Show"
Not only good when medicated, but a different good anyway.

3. The Blair Witch Project
I'm not a person who frequently gets medicated or needs medication (like I average once a year maybe), but I had some, um, medication when I saw this movie and I was bugging. Laughing my ass off and bugging at the same time. I watched it later without medication and found it pretty lame.

4. I was laid up on meds two weeks ago and just about anything was okay!
Blew out my back, and was just flattened with pain meds -- I watched some of the weirdest shit, from obscure, grade-z westerns to cheap thrillers. There was no need to surf the movie channels -- whatever the programming gods put on the digital waves, it was fine!

7. I'm probably one of the few people who can say they've seen
"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" over 365 times.

What can I say? It was the early days of VCR and one of the few films I could get. I came home and watched it every night, and then I'd travel to Dayton to see Rocky Horror.

Sigh.....

8. Episode One
I saw it at a casino. While waiting in line, there was cocktail service; since we were near a nickel-machine, the drinks were free!

The movie, despite a few good parts, was never as good as that first time.

Come to think of it, I was working nights in a movie theater when it came out. I've seen that movie thousands of times. Jar-Jar still makes me want to climb to the top of a bell tower.

9. I saw "Faces of Death" on five hits of acid once.
Made me laugh very hard. EVERYTHING made me laugh hard on acid.

"The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T" is another great acid movie.

11. For me, the great acid moment took place between two monumental trips
The first time I did acid, it was a beautiful fall day and my friends and I just drove around all day long, l,istening to Mudhoney and the Grateful Dead, laughing our asses off....the next time, I played in three different bands (bass, guitar and drums) for five and a half hours straight at my high school while ripped to the tits on six hits. I was on top of the world. In between, I don't think I'd ever been happier....

12. Aren't they ALL monumental?
I miss taking drugs. Clean and sober, though. Clean and sober ('cept for the beer, but that hardly counts, right?).

My first time was Halloween. Little kids in masks, and glow sticks. It was before the rave scene hit North America, and glow sticks were only available at Halloween. Break a couple open, spray them on the walls of a dark room, and watch the stars as you've never see them before (then spend two hours coming down and trying to scrub the ceiling before your friend's dad comes home).

The rain is orgasmic.

Driving through the snow is better -- all the flakes look like extended stars, just like "warp speed" in Star Trek. Getting pulled over: "Why no, officer, I haven't been drinking!"

I'm fairly certain that once, in a swimming pool, I had gills and could breathe underwater, but i have since been unable to replicate the feat.

Taking a piss out in the desert, far from the campfire, only to realize that the bush your peeing on is growling at you becuase it's not a bush, it's a member of a very angry pack of coyotes, and you're about to discover just how fast you can run.

Getting the living shit kicked out of you by several members of a Filipino gang, watching your own blood fly through the air in slow-motion before splattering into the gutter.

Dropping with your first love, looking into her eyes...I've never seen anything so pure and wonderful. I thought, at the time, that her eyes must be what God's eyes look like.

Thanks for sparking my trip down memory lane, Random Kool. :hippie:

13. I saw Weekend at Bernies while in active labor with my daughter.
I still don't really remember what it was about and have no want to see it again. Too many "painful" memories...;)

17. Frank Zappa's 200 Motels?
I saw Zappa's movie 200 Motels in a theater in the early 70's while heavily "medicated" and at the time I actually came away thinking that it had a great deal of deep meaning (which evaporated on awakening the next day). I highly recommend the film for its bizarreness and daring, but I think that unstoned, it will be hard for anyone to tell me that they can make any sense out of it.

18. A buddy and I had gotten "relieved" ...
with some "medical marijuana" (Hey, it's legal in California, although Ashcroft is trying to change that) and were hanging out, watching movies.

One of them was "Insignificance." I don't remember what the movie was about, except in one segment it had Marilyn Monroe explaining Einstein's Theory of Relativity. She made perfect sense, and I totally understood the theory (in the condition I was in).

Aptly, the previous semester I had studied the Theory of Relativity, and I'd had a hard time comprehending it. What wonders a little MJ'll do ya.

19. Tron
1982. I was 17 and had lower jaw surgery to correct a deformity that required my jaw be broken and reset, then wired shut for about two months smack dab in the middle of my summer vacation. I had just gotten out of the hospital and my friends took me to see Tron. I was seriously buzzed on liquid codeine and was borderline tripping throughout the entire movie.

All these years, Susang, I've honestly thought that I was the only one who truly understood the enormous complexity of this movie.

Watched it about a year later, and they'd changed the whole movie.

I hate when that happens.

"Medication time"!!!

(No, "Cuckoos's Nest" is it's own medication and reality...not necessary to be on meds to be blown away by it).
