2. One of my favorite pronunciation soundfiles from the Am. Her. Dictionary!
courtesy of Bartleby.com, found here: http://www.bartleby.com/61/46/H0324650.html
Just a regular .wav file, plays on Windows Media Player.

8. We are NOT going to talk about how many of those I downloaded
nor the "rap" records I made by stringing a bunch of them together. (Pssst, it was uhhhhhhh, about 400 files.) A woman does the pronunciations for some letters, though.

4. I like the etymology
trigger fish with a blunt snout like a pig's : <humuhumu> small trigger fish (from reduplication of Proto-Polynesian <*sumu>, trigger fish) + <nukunuku> small snout, reduplication of <nuku>, snout + , like + <pua'a> pig.

I thought it was great when I read it. Alas, I was a poor intern at the time, and couldn't afford it, so I didn't get a copy. Though Ihave a number of other wonderful Hawaiian children's books. :-)
