I'm seriously thinking of cutting off cable for satellite, recommendations

Our cable system increases fees every year, they gave us a country music channel that we don't watch and increased our payment by two dollars.
Friends of ours subscribe to satellite and I really liked the picture they were getting. We have an antenna so we don't have to buy local channels.
I'm looking at direct and dish, it seems that direct has the better package, can anyone help with this decision?

You will like satellite much better. It is cheaper and you get more channels for your money.

I like my local news....I heard you loose that with satellite....

You get those too as long as you live near a fairly metro area.

local stations aren't a problem.

The last thing I want to do is to pay to hear Toby Keith's ignorant, jingoistic, Republican loving, bigotry.

We have Tivo, Starz, and local channels; it's about $55 per month. I don't know anything about Dish, but DirecTV is very easy to deal with, it's very easy to reconfigure your plan, etc.

hands down that Dish Network

It just works better for us at the moment, since we have internet thru them anyway. Also, with the cable we can have tv's all over the house with a pretty good channel selection. LOL. With Dish we needed a box for each room. So when it comes down to cost, we are paying the same, but have been able to hook up a couple of extra tv's. Plus it is one less bill to pay each month.

The pros of Dish Network were Picture quality, and the on screen menu/guide. The menu thru cable is pretty bad, but I am sure we will get used to it. Also, a couple of times I had problems with one of the boxes, and the signal would be lost. Customer service at Dish was great anytime of day to help me figure out how to fix it.

We love ours. I wouldn't give Rupert Murdoch any more money than I have to.
