The insanity at work continues!
Not only did she scare us about layoffs, not only has she asked us to take pay and benefit cuts, not only does she then give a bunch of people promotions (2 of which are debatable), and not only is she still scaring us with the possibility of layoffs, she's now added yet another person to the payroll; a transfer from another department!

If I lose my job in a layoff because of this dingaling, I'm... Hell, I don't know what to do anymore. I'm so tired of her that I'd quit now or even commit suicide in her honor, not that she'd feel any guilt. She's either consciously evil or subconsciously thoughtless, probably the latter but I'm not going to rationalize in her favor. :grr:

1. These are all bad signs,
have you tried yet to send your resume everywhere you can imagine working? Then, keep your facade up at work! Good luck, HT!

2. Damn
I'd be damn lucky to even make 75% of what I'm currently making now if I left; I'd be closer to making 50% if I did leave. :-(

Oh yeah, she also hired a supervisor a couple months ago as well.

I am union and there's a confidential meeting tomorrow, and I sure as hell am going to voice my concerns.

Worst of all, Administration is so happy with this cow that she'll never be let go. They have to cover up for their own ineptitude anyway.

Oh well, I suppose it's inevitable that I go bankrupt anyway. May as well do it now before they change the laws...

4. You have a union? That seems hopeful:
Please post after the meeting. I've bookmarked this thread, so whenever you are able to post, I will be right here for you!

6. Thanks!
I will keep you informed and I appreciate your interest in this!

According to my supervisor, there will be no layoffs with the 2003 budget; whose fiscal year and all that ends June 30 2004. So I do have some time on my side. Thank goodness. I'm hoping it won't get to layoffs at all. And we only need to chop $140k from the 2004 budget (we chopped $70k in the 2003 budget but that included closing some open positions), so I'm only hoping she's pulling our legs. I do know of one guy who is retiring within the next 2 years and we do have another open position and I know the union will try to get rid of the supervisor position before our jobs are cut. I'm being atypically optimistic...

3. I don't know why they like incompetent people
I think that this happens in a lot of businesses. I wonder if it is because it makes other people around them look better. In an ideal world, the most competent people would be in charge. That's how I would do it if I owned a business of any size. I hate it too when they hold you hostage by paying well for the particuliar type of job. Yep, apply everywhere, maybe you'll get lucky and have a good job before the lay offs.
