1. I have this fantasy world where Neil and I hang out and he explains things to me.
Thanks for the video, it's so good to see the influence Carl had on Neil.

2. I would have loved to see a great gathering
of Sagan, Tyson, Kaku, Dawkins, Hitchens and Harris. A great meeting of minds. I know Dawkins, Hitchens and Harris have met. I wonder what could come of such a gathering.

4. I'd want to throw in Robert Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke too!
It might sound goofy, but for me that's always been the best reason to believe in Heaven, that people like that, great minds all, could get together one day and just talk.

How cool would that be?

5. Add Hawking to that list and I'm in
Even if his voice-thingy is annoying as hell, you can't leave him out.

"I gratefully accept the rebuke.."

Tyson gave a fun and good talk at this conference (Beyond Belief '06)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3xBalVI150 (part one, roll on thru all of 'em!)

There are other vids out there, from other conferences, and the relationship is quite amicable. :-)

7. Tyson is great

Question: Who’s the greatest physicist in history?

Tyson: "Newton. He invented calculus. Most of us sweat through it for multiple years in school just to learn it. He invented it, practically on a dare. He discovered the laws of motion, the laws of gravity, the laws of optics. Then he turned 26."

ETA...

Ted Simons interviews a shining star in the universe of astrophysics, Neil deGrasse Tyson. The author and host of PBS NOVA ScienceNOW talks about what sparked his interest in the cosmos. Ted also asks what Tyson has against Pluto, the celestial body that was discovered at Flagstaff's Lowell Observatory.

10. carl is honestly one of the VERY few people I can say have truly shaped me.
He was something special. Tyson is a good guy, and one of the closest to Sagan in terms of reaching everyday people. No doubt Sagan's kindness played a role in this.

Thanks for the clip. :)
