Too early to start drinking?
I'm feeling existentially bummed this morning. I'm fully aware that drinking is not going to help, but it would at least give me an excuse to be an inert blob all day. :P

Decent vodka too - but apparently, not vetted by St Jimi's estate. It's no longer available - but my bottle is already open, so what the heck. :toast:

the kgb used to give agents vitamin c pills so they could drink without a hangover.

drink screwdrivers from dawn til dusk every day and you'll feel great.

Or dusk comes very early. If it comes in plastic, they should'nt call it vodka - paintbrush cleaner, maybe.

40. Never seen vodka in plastic
would try it if I saw it. Top tip: if you run cheap vodka through a cheap water filter it will taste as nice (and be as free of hangover inducing molecules) as fancy grey goose or whatever. Might have an alarming grey tint from the charcoal but don't let that dissuade you

41. Half-gallons ("handles") were invented for NH State Liquor stores
Which is where I live. Loquor bottled in NH gets a tax break, so there is a bottler (Jenkins Spirits) of pretty dreadful hooch. They bring in bulk liquor in tank trucks, and bottle a lot of it in plastic half-gallons, under names like Popov, Zenkha and Orlov. I've seen drunks that were addicted to the pollutants in this stuff - good vodka would not stop the shakes, only the cheap stuff.
NH State Liquor stores are the Wal-Mart of booze - we stock it deep and sell it cheap! http://www.nh.gov/liquor/pl03.shtml is the price list. Conveniently located on the Interstate system, to catch the tourist trade.Unless you're drinking scary amounts, you can see you can buy respectable booze for reasonable prices - there's no need to drink the paint thinner.

4. My girlfriend and I decided to go camping...
.
..., not SERIOUS camping, but electrical campsite camping. We took
along a blender and made a vow to start the day off with at LEAST
one strawberry daiquiri per day.
.
We didn't drink other than those one or two breakfast drinks, but
it was a truly GRAND way to start the day.
.
.
.
.
Neighbors would come over to complain about the noise (crushing
the ice at 7 AM) and we would simply offer them a drink.
.
Problem solved.

how to improve neighborly relationships. I'll try that with Bloody Marys. Tomato juice is good for you! And vodka cleanses the palate. Or so I'm told.

Edited on Sat Apr-03-10 11:07 AM by struggle4progress
To avoid becoming an alcoholic, I'll never crack open a cold frosty until I have both feet on the floor

I think he followed this rule religiously: he'd sit up in bed, swivel to get both feet on the floor, open the fridge, grab a Round Rock pony, pop the top, and contemplate the prospects for changing out of his PJs

24. I learned from from my Grandfather and an old neighbor guy .
They were masters at it.

The secret is in the sauce, and slow cooking with the right combo of woods.

The ribs are for today.

26. So how do y'all bbq.
There is a big diffence between Texas and the deep south.

Pork seems to be prefered in the south while we like beef and chicken.

28. Up here is sweeter and less spicy than Texas-style
Roasted chicken is HUGE up here - it's practically a food group, so alternative ways to prepare and season chicken are pretty varied. The seasonings in general tend towards the savory rather than spicy. There are 2 South American-style churrascarias within walking distance of my house.

31. There is really no right or wrong way to bbq.
There are people who like sauce, or no sauce.

It is all good.

I use a mixture of wood, pecan and oak.

I get a good hot bed of oak coals going and then throw in a wet pecan log for smoke.

The secret is not to let the coals get to hot or cold.

So I get to stay outside all day watching the coals.

It is pretty out here today, the temp is not bad.

I do like a good bbq chicken.

I don't like really spicy food.
