My cat got out last night--and ended up killing a rat outside!
Max somehow got out last night when my window was left wide open. Ruby was meowing looking for him all night. Needless to say, she kept me up last night. I did end up falling asleep, but at about 5 this morning, she was constantly meowing, looking out the window, and trying to get out of the room (this is out of character for her).

I went outside to look for Max--I spotted him but he streaked away--and instead of finding him, I found a dying rat outside the house. It turned out that he killed the vermin, climbed up the tree, and entered the house through an open window upstairs. I checked upstairs and found him. I brought him back into my room, but Ruby didn't quite recognize him until an hour later. Mad Max the hero!!!

2. Sounds like love
my cat (when younger) used to leave gifts by the side door, or by my car. Really good gifts, too, like half a chipmunk, or a headless bird. The big prize was when he carried a live rabbit into the house. There was much excitement that night.

3. Yes, much to our chagrin our cats are killing machines when given the chance.
It's their nature, as any bird lover will attest.

4. Congratulations on having an actual working feline.
Most of us are stuck with fluffy, hungry, crapping conversation pieces.

5. Our male kitty likes to bring in his toys live and unhurt.
We don't know if he is slow, or too well fed to be motivated to kill. He found and brought in of all things a Campbell's Dwarf Hamster, who we named Lucky and is now happily residing in a Crittertrail complex in the den.
