CoyotesPaw's drunken Poetry corner, back by unpopular lack of demand
Karaoke DJ's Lament

I walk amongst the crowd, betrayed by the stink
of yesterday's dreams.
At times it seems the stench of all my failures
are permanently stuck against my skin.

Then the microphone kicks in, I'm everyone's friend.
We sound like rock stars right 'till the end.
Then, goodnight sweetheart it's time to go
The lights come on we're done with the show.

I pack up the equipment, call it a night.
Fade away, not to be remembered
until next Saturday.

The ending is a bit abrupt, but there's nothing wrong with that...

2. The end is intentionally abrupt
The closest the hero comes to his happy ending, sometimes, is just the ending.

I think the abrupt ending parallels the lonely karaoke DJ's existence.

"Until the next Saturday."
