I don't see being able to deal with a wide barrage of input as being devolution, and I'd be willing to bet that most people from today could easily take on the more "relaxed" one-thing-deeply style from the 19th century, but I'm not so sure that a transplanted 19th century person could handle the cacophony of 21st century life.
I do think that we have lots of people that can't handle the rapid-fire inputs of today and in some cases, they never really develop the means to control and sort the inputs effectively.

brought about primarily by music and television. IMO,hfcs also plays a part. I also think the short attention span on many topics on DU are brought about by the two day time limit on showing postings on My DU.
