Early Friday Night music - have a great weekend!!!!

First, this is the Sex Pistols tour site - clips of live performances as they are NOW...One of the best hard rock stage bands alive; Guitarist Steve Jones is one of my personal all time favorite guitarists...but the entire band really cooks especially with Matlack on bass. Link:

There are several vidos here many from their 2008 tour and Japan. I urge you to try several of them - they have become a very tight, impressive band - these old guys kick ass!!!!

Enjoy

2. I have it on (Gasp) cassette tape.....
used to play it on the way to work.

They really have improved as a band - try to find a video of their sold out London show in 2007 - Johnny says at the end of the concert, "I'm a lucky bastard - this is the best fuckin' band in the world."
He might not be right, but he is close - they are great.

FWIW, when the recorded "Bollocks", Steve Jones had been playing guitar for 3 months!!!

3. I have hundreds upon hundreds of cassette tapes, as well as vinyl albums
and I may be up to one or two hundred CD's.....Never felt the obligation to jump on whatever the latest technology is and spend more money to hear something I already own and can hear just fine. I was really kind of annoyed that when I bought my latest car about 6 years ago, it didn't have a cassette player. I miss listening to them in my car ( although I do have a fair amount of Bruuuuce on CD , and we still get Hartman, Mike Malloy, Stephanie Miller et al on the AM radio so I'm OK).
Re: The Sex Pistols, yeah they sound great although it was disconcerting to hear formerly proud to be "lazy sod" John Lydon waxing poetic about his work ethic...I knew about Steve Jones only having been playing for three months from a post of yours that mentioned that some time ago. That's truly amazing.

4. He is one of my all time favorite guitar players - I know I have said that a few times, too,
but he reminds me of some of the very early '60's rockers - like Steve Cropper. No extra notes, and what he plays is absolutely right.

5. I believe there's a picture of the MG's next to the word "funky" in the dictionary
And I've said the same thing about Cropper too....so economical ; no more and no less, than necessary...like B.B. King in that respect ( in what respect is that Charlie? sorry, couldn't resist)
Haven't done (or rather Dunn) any name dropping lately ( been ducking it--jeez, I gotta stop with the puns unless they're actually clever, and I'm zero for Saturday so far)...But the guy that covers for Duck Dunn ( or used to; not sure anymore) in the Blues Brothers Band is an old friend...Haven't seen him in decades, but he actually recognized another of our mutual friends from back in the day a few years ago when he was playing with Matt Murphy on one of those "blues cruises .Great bass player needless to say; name is Eric Udell. And anyway, back to the original subject, yeah, Steve Jones is a great, straight ahead, no frills rocknroll guitar player.
