Arizona Pics Part 3

South Mountain area/ Cottonwoods resort (where I stayed)

About 2/3 way up the mountain..

From the resort area:
I saw lots of jackrabbits!

Sunrise on a jogging trail

I had a great trip. This is only about 2/3 of my pictures actually. Can't wait to go back and see different stuff.

2. I love Sonoran desert....

Actually, I've yet to meet a desert that I can't find something to like about, but Sonoran desert has been described as "the rain forest of deserts" for its biological diversity. Beautiful pics! They make me want a road-trip! I'll be passing through the low, hot, Colorado portion of the Sonoran (which is, ironically, in southern California) and then the Mojave in a month or so. I'm thinking of making the outbound leg of that trip down Rt. 50 across Nevada and Utah, adding in the great basin desert as well!

4. I've never been to the desert southwest before

So calling it a "green desert" seems strange to me used to lots of trees and bushes. I did once go to Aruba which is a desert climate but somehow a desert island in the middle of a aqua blue sea seems less...harsh, even though its really not....

7. I'm a desert-phile too.

I don't know the Mohave at all (other than a little bit where it overlaps the Sonoran around Wickenburg.

I need to get to Australia. sigh

9. The health stuff was as good as it gets!

And I do think that climate IS good for me--at least when it doesn't feel like an oven. I had a lot more energy than I've had on some recent trips! Love love LOVE the lack of humidity!
