My dog Henry is in a cutest dog contest.
Edited on Mon Apr-26-10 09:39 PM by Walk away
<<<<<<<That's him to the left. Naturally, I think he is the best dog in the world so I am shamelessly appealing for votes.

If you send an email saying "I vote for #24" to this address secaucusspec@aol.com it would be great. It is just the little local paper for Secaucus and their web site with his photo (he is the handsome blond) is www.secaucusnj.org

I adopted Henry when he was only a year old because his family just didn't want him anymore. Since then he has been the best friend I have ever had. I would love to get the doggie trophy for him. He is a total ham and sits up and yodels for attention so winning a prize will send him to the moon. He has 'til April 30 th to collect votes.

1. Is he a Westie or a Cairn?
I looked through the contestant photos and I assume he's the one pictured with a Scottie. (#5 is really trying too hard.) :D

2. They are both Cairns.
Toby is the dark one and they are best friends. They spend every afternoon together.

Henry is eleven now and he helps me with my doggie day care business. My other dog is also a rescue. His name is Robbie and he is my prankster. Here's our web site... www.bethpets.com Robbie is the smiling gray dog in the upper right hand corner and Henry is all over the site.

4. I tried it myself and I had to "allow it" to make it work.
Maybe I am doing something wrong but the email address is correct. I don't know how to fix it. I am sorry but thanks for trying.

5. I used the same address from another post and it worked!
Which is great, cuz I love cairns. When of my best dog friends years ago was a cairn named McCarthy's Rags.

6. What a great name! Henry came with his name but it suits him well.
He is a good fellow. Brave and bright and quick to learn but a sensitive romantic at heart. We have been working together doing socialization for small dogs. He is really good at it and has brought some life long loners into the pack. I think he enjoys watching them bloom as much as I do. We have had some great successes together.

Thanks for voting:7

7. Happy to vote for Henry.
I have two cairns, Toby (male, black) and Hazel (female wheaten/brindle). They are the successors to the late, great Angus (also black) and Mamie (light wheaten). Also had an old guy, Beau, rescued from a shelter after his elderly owner had died. We gave Beau several good years of love and a pack of his own before he left us (at about 16, we think). Cairns are great dogs--Toby and Hazel are rescues. Got Toby locally and Hazel via Colonel Potter Cairn Rescue-- a good bunch of folks nationwide who foster and place cairns in carefully screened home. I love all my dogs, including Stella, our big, honkin' Heinz 57 (maybe some Samoyed/St. Bernard/Collie--she looks like a big-boned red-and-white border collie with a Spitz tail). Good luck to Henry-- he's a handsome boy!

9. Voted for Henry! He's just adorable and hoping he wins!
And thank you for sharing his story. I also had a Cairn Terrier, personality plus, whom I still miss, though I lost him in 1993. I adopted him at age six because his family moved away *sigh* and I already knew and loved him. I had him for 12 1/2 wonderful years. He was looking at his 19th birthday. I wish the same longevity and great good health to your Henry... :hi:

14. Jack's a Brussels Griffon, but he gives me deja vu all of the time...
And more power to you for entering Henry in a pet photo contest. Back in 2006, I entered my other dog, Meneken, in one and I was a nervous wreck. And I posted his contest on DU, as well, no doubt a big factor in his finally winning. Of course he was the cutest, LOL, and he'd be ahead, but then I'd wake up the next day and take a look and the cat from China had surged ahead... Yikes! I don't think my nerves could take that again! x(

But I'll definitely continue to kick this for Henry! :pals: :hi:

Here's Meneken, Nestle Pet of the Month for November 2006! :woohoo:
