EEEEEeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuu....
Lucy (the cat) just got skunked for the second time in a week. Washed him down with soap & water & then vinegar & water. He's skulking under my bed. How can I convince him to play with his own species? How long before skunks go into hibernation? Is it too late for a nip of Jameson's?--For me, not the cat. He was a bad boy. He doesn't get any.

2. Definitely have the Jameson!
You need it. Forget about giving any to the cat.

3. You have a MALE cat named Lucy???????
LOL! We once had a Siamese cat that decided to take a plunge in a bucket full of used oil (he was exploring the garage at the time). I think it took something like 500 days or so to finally get it all out; keeping him still was the real challenge.

6. yes Lucy is a male...
My neighbor said "she" needed a home. It wasn't until the next morning when "she" rolled over & stretched & presented a nice set of balls that I found out. So now he's Luciano. And pretty damn stupid at the moment!
Moral of the story--always check under the hood if you think you're getting a great deal on a used car!

8. I also have a male cat named Lucy.
Short for Lucifer, an appropriate description of his personality. He was a 2-4 year old intact stray tomcat when he hooked up with me.

4. man!
I have three cats AND family of skunks living in the neighborhood - one of them under my house.

None of my cats have EVER been sprayed! My neighbors have 14 cats (yes, that's FOURTEEN) and three skunks living in their yard, and none of them have been sprayed either.

No offense, but your cat might be a few kibbles short of a bowl. ;)

10. cat wizzz?!
I'm surprised that skunks would even think about taking up residence at a place where there are 14 cats.

This next sounds a little disgusting, I realize, but mind you this is done in a rural area. I am afraid that my 3 kittens will run into a raccoon or skunk. Fortunately, they never have, that I know of.

We have rabies around here, as does much of the U.S. Of course, all the kittens have their vaccinations, tag and everything. However, to insure that the wild animals don't come around, sometimes I throw the contents of the (um, ...used) litter box into the yard. Usually I put it into the garbage, of course, but every couple of months I put 'eeeuw de cat whiz' out in the yard. I put it out into the tall grass where it decomposes over time. The idea is that if there is a smell of 'cat' around, then maybe the wild critters like the skunks and raccoons won't come around. So far, I haven't had any problems with wild critters comin' around.

It's a little 'ewwwww-yuck' but it beats having to keep a .22 by the door...or cleaning up someone that's been 'skunked.'

5. I had a thought about your cat -
He isn't some reverse Pepe le Pew is he? I seem to remeber Pepe chasing after a cat he thought was a skunk. Perhaps Lucy is confused.

7. Have you thought about adopting the Skunk?
http://www.skunk-info.org/

Maybe if Lucky had a Skunk playmate he wouldn't go out in search of these odorific striped creatures. And if you think I'm kidding about Skunk ownership, this link has picture of owners with their pet skunks -

11. skunks
I've seen a similar site. There are even 'skunk shows.' Apparently, skunks can be really affectionate, 'snuggly' critters once they're home-reared. Apparently they love to hide in blankets and old clothes.

The skunkie-poos are captive-reared indoors and are descented when they are a few months old. The people who keeps skunks as pets generally keep them 'indoors only.' The site that I saw a couple months back really frowned on capturing a 'wild' skunk.

I think it's http://www.skunksaspets.com/

9. Go to the pet store
and buy Skunk off. It really takes away the odor. Just in case you don't know, do not let your animal inside until you take care of the odor. It's almost impossible to get out of carpets, drapes, and furniture.

My dog is stupid. He get's skunked regularly. :eyes:
