Chris De Burgh - Don`t Pay The Ferryman 1982
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q959XQVhidY

It was late at night on the open road,
Speeding like a man on the run,
A lifetime spent preparing for the journey;

He is closer now and the search is on,
Reading from a map in the mind,
Yes there's the ragged hill,
And there's the boat on the river. And when the rain came down,
He heard a wild dog howl,
There were voices in the night - "Don't do it!"
Voices out of sight - "Don't do it!
Too many men have failed before,
Whatever you do,

Don't pay the ferryman,
Don't even fix a price,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Until he gets you to the other side;" In the rolling mist, then he gets on board,
Now there'll be no turning back,
Beware that hooded old man at the rudder,
And then the lightning flashed, and the thunder roared,
And people calling out his name,
And dancing bones that jabbered and a-moaned
On the water. And then the ferryman said,
"There is trouble ahead,
So you must pay me now," - "Don't do it!"
"You must pay me now," - "Don't do it!"
And still that voice came from beyond,
"Whatever you do,

Don't pay the ferryman,
Don't even fix a price,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Until he gets you to the other side;

Don't pay - the ferryman!"

1. I'm a huge Chris De Burgh fan.
The Getaway, and his follow-up to that album, Man On The Line, were his best albums, hands down.

2. It depends which way you are going.

I actually posted that song before.

Here is how I think about it, there are two ferryman going two directions.

So you give to them both, the crooked one leaves with the money and leaves you behind, the good one says get on board and takes you for the trip.

So by paying both ferryman you learn which is good and which is bad, and it protects you from ridding with the bad one.

love your friends, and love your enemies.

Some might think just holding back your money will get you to the other side, but that will not tell you if that place is going to the good or bad place.

However I do agree not to go to the store, nor to fix a price.

Instead, love your friends, and love your enemies, is what I try to do, although I fail at that sometimes also.

I like this song also.

Some have issues with it by symbolism, but it is about love, so I like it.

LOL and no it is not about political parties LOL, some people

:loveya:
