41. This is not a joke. The vet confirmed it.
At first we thought he (the originally assigned gender which we still use) was a moron - he fell over eating kale when he was a baby. He's actually quite smart and potty trained himself rather quickly. That really makes cage cleaning easy.

Anyway, we had identified him as a male by "the unit" but a few months later we found blood all over his cage. I took him out and examined him and couldn't find any wounds at all. We checked him out on the bed and D'OH! - there was a vagina next to his penis. The vet examined him a few days later and discovered there was a SECOND vagina on the other side. This of course brought a whole new meaning to the concept of "go fuck yourself". Fortunately, the parts haven't interacted in a way that would lead to babies and he's about 2 months away from being 4 years old.

Damn is he a sweet little thing!

5. I could ALMOST do "all of the above"
Edited on Fri May-07-10 11:23 AM by Kali
but am currently technically sans reptile/amphibians, although there are lizards and snakes in the yard

in addition to horses, there are a few other large animal pets as well (2 cows that were bottle fed as calves)

2 house cats, plus at least 2 ferals, 2 dogs, a macaw, a squirrel, too damn many welfare horses, the above 2 cows, 3 hens and 5 roosters (I guess they are pets, they sure as hell aren't producing much), 7 or 8 goldfish

18. She's doing great!
Thanks for asking. It's Ellie, by the way.

Here she is the other day, out of her paddock for the first time in ages, happily eating grass.

We've been able to groom her quite a bit - still some caked mud in places but we're not pushing the issue. She's put on some weight and has a nice, clean stall, a much better attitude and she looks forward to seeing us every day. She loves my daughter, nickers when she sees her and even races around her paddock kicking up her heels after she's been out for a walk. Not bad for a horse that's pushing 30!

30. how nice!
a little mud's not a big deal, but not even being able to tell her color - that was shocking!

Looking pretty good there. My old guy ripped a big hunk of hide off his left butt cheek a few days ago. I swear he had just healed the hole in his neck from last summer's run-in with a tree (or whatever it was, I never did figure it out, just had to take care of the mess) Not even a year between injuries, but he keeps on ticking (eating). It's superficial but still kind of BIG. Crazy old fart.

21. one amazing dog, one somewhat recalcitrant cat, and one cat that's actually the spawn of Satan.
We used to have two bearded dragons too, but one died and the other one is so unbelievably old (20+ years) that we moved it to my mother-in-law's house because she's home all the time and can give it constant care. (She was the original owner anyway, so it's a full-circle kind of thing.)
