Actual dreaming, that is.

What kind of dreams do you have? Can you remember them? When you are dreaming, are there times when you can control the action in your dreams (lucid dreaming)?

Do you dream with any cohesiveness to them--a plot, characters, or such, or are they just random, short pieces? Have you had any precognitive dreams?

Do you have a common theme? I have a lot of dreams about flying or floating or being in an elevator that goes in all directions.

How long does it take for you to forget your dreams--or do you write them down?

Do you have nightmares? A couple of times lately, I was in a bad dream, and woke myself up with yelling.

What are the physical settings in your dreams? Mine often take place in a house which grows rooms, though the rooms seem to be more like hotel rooms at times.

Many years ago, in the 20s (I believe), a man wrote about dreams, when his philosophy was that dreams were snippets on a person's lifespan, where everything in your life has already happened, and your dreams aren't just random imaginings, but moments in your life, from start to finish. I believe his last name was Dunne, and one of the books he wrote about this was called The Serial Universe. It's an interesting premise, but I don't think aliens coming to earth and taking over is a very likely scenario in my future.

People I know IRL rarely make an appearance. :shrug:

than a few minutes after waking up. Most of my dreams are apparently pleasant. It's very rare that I wake up feeling scared or sad. I can't tell you any details of my dreams, because I don't remember them.

What kind of dreams do you have?

All kinds. Some random/absurd. Some with a narrative.

Most of the time.

Yes, several times. At one point I actively worked at developing this ability.

Only one that I can remember.
I dreamed my Mom had an eye injury. When I spoke to her the next day she confirmed that she had accidentally splashed some bleach into her eye when doing the laundry. I even dreamed which eye it was.

Used to have reoccurring tornado dreams. Not so much now.
Now a common theme is someone breaking into my home.

How long does it take for you to forget your dreams--or do you write them down?

I kept a dream journal for a couple of years. I don't do it now.

Not very often.

Most of them start, at least, in a real life location. Usually a house I have lived in at some point of my life.

Have you ever tried to find out what your dreams mean?

I've read a lot of Carl Jung's thoughts on dreams, and what he says makes sense to me.

He basically thinks that dreams are the unconscious mind's communication with the conscious. And, that the unconscious mind is divided between the personal unconscious (everything you've forgotten or repressed) and the collective unconscious. (the inherited psychic structure that organizes how you experience the world)

The language of dreams is spoken in symbols and archetypes, and can be interpreted on both the objective and subjective level.

I have many different series of recurring dreams. I am a lucid dreamer; about a third of my dreams are lucid. I remember dreams I had when I was 3, more than 35 years ago. I have nightmares about once every two months, and when I do, they're doozies -- I wake up thrashing and calling out. I have an entire dream geography -- I'll dream about different places on different nights, and know that they're both in the same "world" even though I was in different places. I could draw a map if I had to.

I dream in color; if my dreams are sexual, they're intensely so; I've never had a premonition but have had comforting dreams about recently dead people.

Most about 'current events,' that is, what's happening in my life, friends, family. Sometimes obtain insights. Some more memorable than others. So, can't remember what I dreamed last night!

When I was a kid, dreamed about bear chasing me down a hill at Bronx zoo. I said, hey, its just a dream!

when all of a sudden the dream goes black, a white light blinds me and John Lennon (late 70's John Lennon) appears in front of me. He says "Always remember, you are never alone, I am always right here with you" then poof he's gone, back to a dream that I can't remember.
