I've been watching the original BBC "The Office"
I know I'm a little late to the game here but damn if Ricky Gervais isn't one of the funniest human beings on the planet. The show's sensibility and comic timing are impeccable. David Brent has to be one of the biggest a-holes ever to reach middle management. He reminds me of so many people who think they're funny but only to themselves.

1. If you like Gervais in that show, you should check out his show Extras
He plays an actor who makes his living as an extra in film after film, so there are special guests and cameos in each episode. The episodes with Kate Winslet and Ben Stiller are particularly memorable :)

2. I've seen "Extras"
Gervais has a wierd, dry sense of humor. That's why he's so good.

3. Just don't do a marathon.
The British version is *way* darker than the US one. In the American one, Michael Scott is an idiot but at the bottom his employees kind of wish him well and shield him from the worst consequences of his behavior. But in the British one, they just let him hang out there in ever more excruciating situations.

Much more true to life and *much* more depressing.

4. People Like Us suffers from the same problem
Very funny fake doc type of show but since everything goes wrong if you watch a whole season in a row it is kind of depressing.
