1. Working third-shift through much of the 90's...
.
...was one of the best, happiest, healthiest times of my life.
.
I'm a night person -- probably 7 or 8 years old when in the
morning, MiddleFingerMomMom would come up to wake me
up for school and find me still awake and reading a book from
the night before.
.
I tell people this demonstrates that I'm a TRUE night person --
it developed long before I discovered YEEHAA.

3. I'm sort of half a night person.
I do best when I stay up until 2 or 3, and sleep until 11ish. Working until 7 a.m. just kills me though, and of course everyone I know doesn't really *get* that I am sleeping when they call at noon. =/

6. My older brother worked third-shift on his summers home from college...
.
...at a NASTY job at a Goodyear plant (he cleaned out their "pits" -- whatever
it was, he had black rubber dust staining the waistbands of his underwear for
a month or two after going back to school).
.
MiddleFingerMomMom wasn't always as cool as she became. She would try to wake
him at noon, saying things like, "Do you know what kind of people sleep in the
afternoon?"
.
He would reply (EXTREMELY annoyed, "Yeah -- third-shift workers").
.
She never quite got it.

7. Worked graveyard for 16 years,
and now still do it from time to time. Parts of doing it has actually gotten easier like being able to sleep later in the day before a shift and being well-rested. But if I could get off around 1 or 3 that would be perfect!

8. Not for the last 2 1/2 years, but before I moved up here
I worked 3rd shift at a UPS warehouse. It was a short shift, only 4-5 hours. But I couldn't afford to be picky at the time. I had no health insurance, my job had just gone under without any warning, and my phone company had just made a 200 dollar mistake on my bill and shut off my phone, making it pretty much impossible for me to get any other job. I stuck around for three years there because the job market where I lived was so shitty that a 4-5 hour a day job with health insurance was the best I was ever going to find.
