How hot is too hot for you?
Spice-wise, that is.

On The History Channel they are looking at spicy stuff.

Me?
I can't even stand jalapenos.

17. That's a good...
.
...reason to eat spicy foods.
.
It's considered vulgar during those moments to challenge someone to a snowball fight.

8. Jalapenos is it for me!
Edited on Thu May-13-10 09:03 PM by Odin2005
I prefer "Bold-spicy"/Zesty to "Hot-spicy", I LOVE strong, bold flavors (I LOOOOVE horseradish), just not the peppery, capaicin-based spicyness.

Not just Thailand, but Issan Thailand.

12. I like mild to medium spicy
As long as it has taste and isn't just hot for the sake of being hot. My husband on the other hand can eat outrageously hot stuff that leaves him with sweat pouring off his brow. That's too much!

14. There's two kind of hot. Warm hot and stupid hot.
Warm hot is a full-body, makes your face and head sweat, sneaks up on ya kind of hot. I like that.

Stupid hot is burn your mouth so you can't enjoy the rest of your meal hot. Fuck that.

20. There was quit e a bit of history in the show.
Don't forget, explorers like Columbus were not going out to sea for the sake of exploring.

They were looking for a less-expensive route for the spice trade.

18. I ate in my favorite Thai restaurant once...
.
...and I made the mistake for asking for a "four-heat" out of
a 5-point scald.
.
I LOVE hot foods. I started sweating and crying and my nose
was running profusely and I could tell my face was flushing
beet-red -- EMBARRASSING.
.
I had to leave.

And that was just "Stage One" of my, um... you know... flushing problems.

25. I can't stand much heat in my food. When I order from the Thai place down the street
from where I work, I always tell them to make mine mild, not spicy. If the food is too spicy, I can't taste any flavor, just the heat.

I used to be able to eat spicier, but now I've wimped a little.

But if it's horseradish or wasabi, give it too me. It's like a little explosion and then it's gone.

When I went to college upstate there was one place that had their levels of Buffalo wings as mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and nuclear.

I tried the nuclear once on the insistence of a Korean friend and boy did I have the ring of fire the next day.

27. I like "bold" spicy food, roasted jalapenos, etc.,
but when it gets to the point where steam is hissing out of the ears, snot is coming out of the nose, eyes are watering, blisters are forming on the gums and tastebuds have forever been rendered useless - the hotness threshold's been crossed. To put it politely: When it's as hot coming out as it was going in - it's been too hot. Ahem.
