Videotaped a wedding today, and saw one of those unplanned, touching, real life moments
It was during the exchanging of the rings.

The bride was repeated her lines, and little by little, began to progressively choke up.

A tear started rolling down her cheek.

The groom gently reached up and wiped it away.

I realized in that moment that the romance in me isn't dead yet.

It's disillusioned, impatient, disappointed and pessimistic...

...but it ain't dead.

5. I saw it today, and I was moved.
I go into these situations never knowing what to expect.

And I heard the bride's voice crack, and I felt a gradual sting in my own tear ducts.

And when he reached up and wiped that tear away, I was moved beyond words.

These are two people who love each other.

These are two people who belong together.

And I had the honor to not only witness it, but to film it.

It does exist.

It might happen right out of high school, or college, or much, much later in life.

But I saw it today.

Love is real.

Love is there, for me, for you, for us.

We need to be ready when it arrives.

3. My dear Amerigo Vespucci...
How perfectly beautiful...

You describe it so perfectly, so beautifully, it's as though we are all there right alongside you, watching it happen...

Thank you.

May you always have romance in you, sweetie...

It makes life worthwhile.

7. Peggy, you know I appreciate you, and your poetry, and your art ...
...and I witnessed all of those things today, alive and vibrant. All of your beautiful photos of sunsets and sunrises, all of your wonderful poems about the ache and anticipation of love.

I was there. It all happened today, in the blink of an eye.

I was touched, I was honored, I was in a state of awe and gratitude.

This was life, as it is meant to be lived. I could see my life unfolding, when the time was right, when the woman who is right for me reveals herself and I wipe every tear away and pledge my honor and my love and my comforting arms to her, and her alone.

Thanks again, Peggy. You are a constant reminder of what it is all about.

9. I am overwhelmed, and I am weeping...
Very few here have ever spoken so tenderly to me as you did just now...

The woman who reveals herself to you as the right one for you will be a very lucky woman...

I hope you find her. You deserve her...

Thank you...

8. It is a moment
The moment happens, or it does not.

I celebrate you and your husband for having that moment, and you personally for acknowledging that moment's importance and significance.

You brass ring of life firmly in your grasp.

10. It's a huge moment
Realizing the importance of the vows, the nervousness, the excitement, it all catches up to you in the moment. My family thought there was something wrong and I gave them a slight heart attack!

It was humbling in its honest simplicity, and I cannot adequately express my gratitude for being the man with the camera.

12. The gift you have given them and their children and grandchildren is wonderful
That scene will make many tear up. You captured a pivotal moment for them.

You're lucky to have witnessed it. They're lucky you witnessed it too.

14. I created website for a church less than a mile down the road from this church...
...and I filmed a wedding ceremony, which I converted into a DVD, as a gift, for a couple I knew could not afford it...

...because I place no higher value than that of a man or woman who is willing to commit their life to the joy and peace of another. That is Mount Everest. When you are willing to fuse your life to another person's life in order to bring down peace and joy and love, you have grabbed the brass ring of life,

16. This is one of he nicest threads I've ever read here.
Isn't it wonderful when life puts something in front of you at just the right time, in just the right way, and you realize what remarkable, fragile and tender creatures we are?

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to share, AV.

17. I was at a wedding one time that was outside. The skies opened up and it started to pour rain.
Now who was the first one out on the deck floor in her bare feet and wedding gown splashing in puddles but the bride. She was soaking wet and danced up a storm. I'll never forget that. It was so much fun.

26. My hubby cried. I didn't. And I think people thought I was weird.
I hate to cry in public so I would've been mortified. But it is extremely sweet and touching -- for somebody else to cry, just not me.
