So, I just heard "Sloop John B." By the beach boys. Since about ten months ago I can't hear that without thinking of my trip to Vietnam last year. I went there to meet a girl I'd been meeting in Beijing on a steady basis, but we weren't "together" after the trip we were together. Anyway, we spent the afternoon in Nihn bin on scooters. The caves and such were supposed to be the highlight, but for me it was the scooter trip through tiny hamlets while looking at the amazing scenery. The melody to Sloop John B. Just seemed to fit... and still does. Maybe it was the Forrest Gump aspect.
ANYWAY. Had a great time and will always remember that tune as the soundtrack to that trip. FYI, me and the lovely lass are still going.
Here's a pic from that day. I reccomend anyone to go to Vietnam. Hell of a place. BTW, whever I see this I'm amazed at how Tiny she is. I'm only 5'11. So there's some scale.
BTW BTW, you may notice HEyHEY has a red head.... worst sunburn since I was ten, should you go to Vietnam, even if it's cloudy in the morning you WILL need sunscreen.... sigh, the lessons a Canadian learns in tropical climates.
