18. HA! You think you have it bad. I live right behind a school with a track and
field competition all weekend, this week-end. I just know that public address speaker is pointed right at my house!

6. Grass needs to be mowed.
Edited on Sat May-22-10 04:35 PM by Call Me Wesley
I believe, that, if there's grass all over the place, we, as a human race, would suffocate and cease to exist.

We would have grass instead of nose hair and it will kill us, although, there might be some exceptions I just made up, which, I'm afraid, won't include you. Ivy will cover your corpse, and we will form a circle of honor and sing 'Kumbaya.'

May the Great Lawnmower be with you. At 3:51 PM. On a Saturday. It will be great honors.

Do you like Gladiator movies?

8. Funny you said that,
because, mowing grass on a Saturday at 3:51 OM is now a motorized gas guzzing industry, the same thing in its essence as the production of corpses in the gas chambers and the extermination camps, the same thing as blockades and the reduction of countries to famine, the same thing as the manufacture of hydrogen bombs.

But every historical statement and legitimization itself mows within a certain relation to history and tall grass.

Every man is born a lawnmower and dies as a single one.

11. I get the prime napping time but I grew up with my Dad mowing
the lawn on Saturday Afternoons. However, that was a long time ago so maybe things have changed. In any case, I'm sorry it screwed up your nap. I'm a nap person myself and I don't like interruptions either.

16. I'm a nap person myself and I can commiserate
I live along a very busy street, and along that street are two large churches. May thru August being the most popular months for weddings, I have given up on taking naps on Saturday. Reason: It is a (deplorable!) custom over here that once the wedding party drives away from the church in however many cars, until they get to whatever hall/restaurant all of these cars will continually blow their horns.

Last Saturday, there were five separate wedding parties driving down the steet. Five. Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Horns blaring.

I finally stuck my head out the window and screamed something about hoping they would get divorced before the friggin' wedding was even paid off.

17. Me, too.
Friday night, the children of the now-deceased woman who owned the house behind me decided to throw a party. They stared around 7 PM. I called the police at around 11:30 to get them to quiet it down. They did--sort of, for about 45 minutes. They finally knocked it off at around 2 AM, after one of the boys next door drove around and asked them to knock it off. I got about 3 hours of sleep that night. Wasted the whole damn Saturday because I was too tired and brain-dead to do anything.

19. Grass needs mowing.
As far as I know, there's only one standing rule: Not before 10AM.

So naptime notwithstanding, :nopity:

I wish I could nap and get done all the crap I need to get done on a given weekend, alas, such are not the conditions of my life.

No outdoor use of loud equipment when I'm trying to take a fucking nap.

22. My next-door neighbor mowed his lawn three(3) times yesterday
At about nine in the morning, aroudn 12:30, and again at about 4pm. He's one of those stereotypically competitive suburbanite types; not only has to be Doing More Suburbia Things around the house, but has to be seen doing it.

Pretty much every day it's nice out he mows the lawn, regardless of whether it needs it or even if the blades can reach the grass anymore. On especially nice days he'll do so multiple times. Does the same thing with snowblowers in the winter.
