Sawyer ends up with Kate in the sideways world. Because if she doesn't she's going to prison for sure. Juliette may be Jacks first wife and maybe those two get together in sideways L O S T.

11. After she....
SPOILER!

After she blows up the a-bomb, she gets all delirious in Sawyer's arms and, clearly time-tripping like Desmond & Daniel's other mice do, says to Sawyer "We should go get some coffee; We'll go dutch."

There are some TV conventions LOST can flout. But no way they could ever keep Sawyer & Juliet from having a happy ending together. They need to make the fans happy & give them that kind of closure. Jack's closure might involve Kate, or it might just involve being a better dad to his side-son. But Sawyer has to have Juliet, not Kate.

Maybe Kate can hook up with Hurley in this sideverse. I just assume everyone in the island universe dies

I thought their hookup was implausible anywhere other than a deserted island where they both had few choices.

But I'm just not going to be able to do it. *siiiiiigh*

So I'm reading the scene-by-scene synopses on Lostpedia. Hulu's taking down all but the last five episodes after today. :(

I'm kinda sad. It's like I'm secretly wishing they'll come on and be like "AWWWWW GOTCHA, WE'RE COMING BACK."

10. Does anyone know of any way to watch this live without satellite, cable or over the air connection?
Is there any site where I can stream it. My connection is fairly good right now, but when I google this, I get a lot of sites that don't really look like they work right. Or sites that want me to sign up for things first.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

You know, by the way, that the season finale is 2 and a half hours only because it's a 2 hour show (meaning 88 minutes) with an extra 30 minutes of commercials and promos stuffed in.

This cow ain't gonna make it in syndication, so they gotta milk it dry tonight.

28. Maybe. It has heat now. But five years from now I don't think it'll be as syndicable as "Scrubs" is.
It's too serialized. Notice how Buffy the Vampire Slayer or X-Files don't make it as re-run shows. It's not a lack of quality, it's a lack of the "persuasion of continuity" in the format of the show.

IMHO

37. X-Files reruns on Syfy and Buffy reruns on LOGO.
But LOST has never been the kind of show where you can click into any random episode and be able to pick up on what's going on. Either you're in for the long haul or you're, well, lost.

Which is the kind of TV I want to support. I hate short-attention-span theater. I like long, full-arc stories that unfold over years. But how often does a show come along that does it so well? Not very.

155. I tend to agree. Syndication never runs any show in succession.
Lost does have a future. As far as a new audience is concerned, My Mom and a handful of others I know are interested in watching Lost, but they want to start from the beginning.

If SyFi continues the 4 hour block on Mondays, then it'll pick up new people like Star Trek did, but if Disney sends the episodes out of sequence, then all truly is Lost.

Lost is why DVD season sets were invented. This is a DVD show if there ever was one.

29. Prediction: Smokey escapes the Island through that stonehenge-like rock by the Others' 1st camp
You know the one with the fake hatch door against the rocks where they kept Michael in a tent in Season 2? I think that's an important place and that hole in the rock that Walt told Michael about is going to be important for something, probably Smokey's final escape. I notice they worked it into the closing credits last week. That can't be a coinky-dink.

Also they have Jacob say "You do this job (protect the island) for as long as you're able to."

71. Let me just say this about that --
The fact that a sizeable number of ADULTS -- often well-educated and over-paid -- obsess on this perils-of-Pauline-type series written by lazy writers who clearly are winging it week after week --

well, it's just another sign of civilization's collapse.

Talk about "defining deviancy down." :eyes:

164. I think you are correct - the original LOST timeline survived - not the "flash sideways"
which appears not to have been "real" with Jack not really having a kid and all. i haven't read anything bout it - just finished watchin actually - and it's the only thing that makes sense. Maybe the flash-sideways parts were their chances at redemption - Jack fixed Locke's spine, Sun and Jin got to trust/love each other and be together again, Ben got to teach instead of Jacob always keeping him in the dark, etc. And maybe they did live life in this sideways reality for a good while - Christian said there was no time there, and Ben and Hurley seemed to have lived full long lives on the island judging by their "Number One" and "Number Two" comments - hell Ben might not even be dead yet since he never went inside - maybe he's Richard-ish now. I do agree that the main LOST reality is the one that truly continues. Sun, Jin, Sayid, Juliet, Charlie, Shannon, Boone, Jack, Michael (wow he must have pissed off the writers something fierce to not even get a mention in the finale), Anna-Lucia, Charlotte, Daniel, Rouseau, Alex, Whidmore, and probably some I'm forgetting - all died on the island. Locke died when Ben killed him in Season 4. Kate, Sawyer, Lapidus, Miles, Claire, and Richard all made if off on the plane and survived. I'm assuming Hurley and Ben sent Desmond home using either the donkey wheel or the boat Sawyer and crew used.

Man I hope we haven't seen the last of this show. I know the writers say we have, but I think there is more story to tell - maybe centered on Hurley and Ben protecting the island. Great ep, great show, sad to see it go.

131. I'm considering attending a UCC seminary in the Twin Cities,
United Theological Seminary. They not only have a concentration in "justice and peace", but "theology and the arts." Well, I just discovered that a graduate of that particular concentration was none other than one of the main writers for Lost (as well as Six Feet Under). He was a presenter for the seminary's spring symposium. I'd always thought there was a real theological underpinning to the series, in terms of exploration of metaphysical and spiritual questions and that was always intriguing to me. I got a real kick out of finding that out.

154. I don't know if he was Unitarian or not. The UCC
stands for United Church of Christ (generally a liberal, progressive denomination) and not Unitarian. However, that particular seminary, even though affiliated with and run by the United Church of Christ, is ecumenical and does not have a "doctrine requirement" whereby you're required to agree with a particular doctrinal statement before attending. This means that there are, indeed, some UU students there. Again, though, I don't know the denomination of this particular writer.

they all die as a result of the original plane crash and they've been in limbo ever since, waiting to move on? Or, did they go to the church to wait after each one died on the island?

Also, at the end, where was the airplane pilot and the guys that were with him? James, Kate, and Claire were at the church but those others were not.

Helps me for damn sure.

No, they didn't all die. Frank, Sawyer, Kate, Claire, 170 year old Richard, and of course Miles all lived. They died later, but you only see them in the afterlife because there's no "now" in heaven. And they all came together in the sideways universe because they helped each other and needed each other on the island.

It's a story about love. That's something Damon Lindelof has been saying since season 1

i took away the same thing from the show. Desmond lived too - Hurley likely got him off the island on the boat Sawyer and co used to switch islands or w/ the donkey wheel. But yeah, that's why you see them all at the end - some died years in the past, some not for years to come. Very cool

153. as much as I like it, it was still a 'guy' show
and the women were there for fuckability or domesticalicty while those men went out in the wilds to do right by everyone. Too bad that french woman was offed so soon... but, yes, thats that way it's wrote. fuck them to submissiveness or kill them off.

163. The two homely people were the two people left at the end
How is that playing into the stereotypes?

(And FWIW, if I had to hook up with anyone, it would be those two, but in a world of pretty people, Jorge Garcia and Michael Emerson are not in the same universe, lookswise.)

144. Bullseye. I was never a hardcore fan BUT I watched every single episode (once). I am far from
satisfied with the ending. And the main beef I have is with the gathering of the dead at the end of the episode. I assumed that we were watching parallel universes coming together or something like that, and I would have been satisfied with that. But when it was revealed, through the conversation with his father, that Jack's dead I said out loud, You've GOT to be kidding me! I was actually pretty OK with the episode up until those last few minutes.

147. I kinda liked that ending. Making the sideverse a valid reality would've been a cheat
The point is that while they were alive, they loved each other. That is what lived on after them. I think it's beautiful, even if we don't find out what happened to create the Hurley parrot.

149. After I take time to reflect I COULD change my mind about the ending but what I'm posting is my gut
reaction. I'll definitely be taking the time in the next couple of days to read other reactions and explanations. I wanted to leave the series with a positive feeling so I'm hoping my opinion softens. The heaven-like gathering just doesn't speak to me so that could be a factor in my reaction.

159. I feel the same way, like I was expecting a Quarter Pounder, but got a McNugget intstead...
Wasn't happy with the ending. And so much island stuff was left unexplained. But when it was revealed that they were all dead, and waiting to "move on," I just shook my head. However, my opinion has already softened a little in reading this thread. I'll give it a day or two.

141. Auntie Em!, Auntie Em!
Jack: But I did leave you, Dad. That's just the trouble. And I tried to get back for days and days.

Jack's Dad:There, there, lie quiet now. You just had a bad dream.

Jack: No.

Hurley: Sure. Remember me, your old pal, Hurley?

Jack: Oh.

Locke: And me, Locke?

Kate: You couldn't forget my face, could you?

Jack: No. But it wasn't a dream. It was a place. And you were dead there - and you were dead there - and you - and you were dead there.

Sawyer: Oh, Jack!

Jack: Oh, Toto Vincent!

(Cue music: Sommmmmewherrrre, Ovvver the Rainnnnnbow!)
