This is it folks. Barring copycats, this the last day for LOST threads. There's an article in the paper today featuring all the unanswered questions. As we wait for "The End" (or as the inevitable thread title will read: "T H E E N D"), tell me what answers you can live without, which ones you can't live without, and which ones you've already figured out on your own.
For example, mine are (can't live without knowing) Why is it that the Others couldn't have babies after the Purge, but before the Purge the Dhama people could pop out a whole freighter full of young'uns?
and...
(can pretty much live without getting an answer) What the heck is the deal with the Hurley parrot?
and...
(already figured out) Why the Smoke Monster killed Father Mr. Eko Tunde. Eko WAS a candidate when he first got to the island. But right before Smokey smoked him, he said he wasn't sorry for anything he'd done. He was at peace, his spirit washed clean of sin, and thus not lonely and purposeless. As a result of the trauma of survival on the island, he'd gained clarity on his moral purpose in life--he was no longer the flawed-but-redeemable character that Jacob was looking to recruit (this was a last minute change of enlightenment, as Lindelof & Cuse said they had big plans for Mr. Eko's character before AA-A decided he wanted off the show). But obviously now that he was no longer eligible to be a candidate, Smokey was allowed to kill him.
Okay, who's got next?
