Poll question: So I'm curious - what is your opinion of the *LOST* finale (spoilers probably)
I watched the show thru midway season #3 and then it just got too weird for me. Plus commericials annoy me. I'm so use to watching tv series on HBO where they have no commericials and play them all back to back. I will probably rent all the seasons of Lost thru Netflix and watch all 6 seasons over the next year.

I did watch the finale. I figured it would be one of those memerable finales that people will talk about for the ages like Seinfeld, Sopranos, MASH, etc. etc. I thought it was a good finale but then again I hadn't watched any episodes from the past 3 seasons so for me - it just seemed like all the couples found each other in the end in the afterlife. For some bizarre reason I bawled like a baby but probably because I was remember all the people I have loved but lost over the years and hope I meet up with them the same way in the afterlife.

So if you watched the finale - vote in the poll.

1. It was very good, didn't answer many questions, but I'm okay with that.
Had the producers done a George Lucas and crammed down a bunch of ridiculous explanations for the major questions of the show, it would have been pretty bad.

Instead, it sidestepped the questions, but focused rather on the character's mortality, which we can all relate to. That in and of itself affected me emotionally more than I was expecting it to do so.

4. I voted a bit disappointing.

I loved the finale up until the end. It was happy, yet sad to me. I guess being depressed lately made me want to be completely satisfied.

That being said, can't wait for True Blood and Entourage!

5. It was fair.
I have to say I really had a problem with how easily they got that plane working and in the air to escape. And in the end it didn't even really seem to matter that the people who escaped got away.

I would have cut that whole part of the story out. It only seemed to be there to satisfy the long running, but ultimately irrelevant, question of "will they get off the island?"

I'm fine with the sideways being purgatory/limbo. I thought it worked. It was a little overly sentimental for my tastes, but it seems everybody wanted that weepy, happy ending bullshit so I'm fine with it.

Overall it was a solid C+/B-.

LEAGUES BETTER than the Battlestar Galactica finale.

9. But it did matter that they got off.
They got to continue to live their lives. They realized even more that they had to rely on others and not live lives of solitude.

6. The couples made me cry, too.
Well, I didn't actually cry during the show - it just softened me up. I cried after the show was over, in response to a real life situation. What a wuss I have become.

Overall, I was disappointed in the finale. I felt like I could've written it. To me, it confirms my belief that they were just making it all up as they went along, with no over-arching concept to tie it all together.

I'm like you. I haven't been watching the series for a long time. I think they lost me at polar bear ;)

I did like that Ben stayed outside the church.

10. That's like reading a William Carlos Williams poem
and saying you could write that. I call BS.

The end was pretty deep.

11. Maybe I'm missing something 'cause I'm not a big fan.
But I've been thinking they were dead since the first season, and the whole alternate time-line thing seemed like a means of tugging at our heartstrings without having to worry about logical consistency. Anything can happen in an alternative timeline, and they used it to go for the obvious emotional hotbuttons, imo.

12. But they weren't dead on the island
unless they died there, of course. The island is the "real" timeline. It was the parallel universe in which they were no longer alive.

7. It was escapist tv... some times you need that...
and most importantly, not among that irritating so-called "reality" tv genre. (I am SOOOOOOOOOO over reality tv. I can't even stand to watch the 15 second promos for them).

8. The best thing about "The End" was the Target commercials.
