YOWWWW! Ray Harryhausen signing books in NYC at B&N!
Not until May 5, so gives all you peeps time to get your flights ready to come to NYC and hear him speak and have him sign his new book, Ray Harryhausen: An Animated Life. What a genius! And I love that he got a nod in the dialogue in Monsters, Inc.

2. a couple of years ago I actually dropped down to the ground...
... and bowed elaborately before him, to his amusement.

Ray made me get into film as a kid! I could never make the claymation come out nearly as good as his stuff, but it was fun trying.

3. wow, how old is he?
they were just showing one of his movies the other night, "Clash of the Titans."

Uh oh. We're showing our age, just by revealing we KNOW HIS NAME.

5. Ray was a Master of Masters...
In the field of stop-motion photography. His superb attention to detail really made the films he produced fascinating. I saw a Discovery Channel special made about him some years ago, and his interviews were just great. He told all about how he began on such low budgets, he and his crews had to hunt junkyards for parts and such stuff.

Amazing man.
