my system xp keeps shutting down because of nt authority\system. Any clues pls???

of a virus/worm that was circulating widely last year.

Have you run antivirus software on your machine?

4. You need to apply all of MSs security patches
It's not a virus exactly--there was a security loophole in MS's remote call code, and you have a worm that's taking advantage of it. Download all of the security patches from windows update, and then go to the Norton website, and search there for "blaster" to get instructions to do the final cleanup.
