I've lost count of how many Series I've ignored completely just because I was so pissed off the Sox weren't in it. Then there were "good" years...
In '67 I carried a transistor radio held to my ear while I did my paper route, sometimes riding my bike one direction while looking in another in order to keep the reception clear until Bob Gibson broke my heart. In '75 I listened on Armed Forces Radio on the USS Ranger and got my heart broken again, with no beer available to bathe the wound...and I still turn the sound down on ESPN to this day so I don't have to listen to Joe Morgan talk.

I've got this jagged scar on the back of my hand because I was silly enough to be riding a bicycle watching a Sony Watchman when the ball went through Buckner's wickets which caused a sudden collision with a dumpster. Technically it wasn't over yet, but we knew...the sound of hearts breaking all over Red Sox Nation gave it away.
Our hearts take more of a beating from the Sox than from any mere mortal woman.
Funny thing. They always heal by Opening Day...Sox in '05!!

THe curse of the Bambino lives on in A-Rod. THe Cubs will win the World Series before the Red Sox. And they have the Sports Illustrated curse AND the Billy Goat curse hanging over their head this year.
