Post your favorite excercise songs here: I need inspiration!
I've been making a playlist. I'm looking for things to transport me, to make me forget I'm fighting achy joints and mean self-talk as I walk or ride the exercise bike or do aerobics. Here are a few I like, but I need more:

Ain't too Proud to Beg
Ants Marching
As (Stevie Wonder)
Love Shack
Little Lion Man (Mumford and Sons)
Not Fade Away (Dead)
Praise You (Fatboy Slim)
Tears of a Clown

What takes you to that place, with feeling?

1. Boogie Shoes, K.C. and The Sunshine Band
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux2WXNsqfe8

Back when Napster was free, I made my sister a CD of all the good exercise music, but, alas, I can't remember it now.

3. I have hours worth of stuff like Il Divo, Celtic Woman, Enya on an MP3.
Edited on Sat May-07-11 04:56 PM by Obamanaut
Thrown in as change of pace is some Wilson Phillips, Jim Croce, and Jim Reeves.

Use this same list at the gym, and riding my bicycle on the road. Stick in the earbuds, and away we go in my own little world.

The heavy beat of most of the music I hear on the gym speakers is distracting to me.

6. Jackson Browne, "Running on Empty.
Yeah, it's his Mid-Life crisis song, but it's perfect for a slower run.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJYRtOPUonA&feature=player_detailpage

Also his other song with the same beat, "Take it Easy". I actually like the Eagles' version better.

As for speed drills and strength training, I like anything heavy and fast. Green Day's faster songs are perfect for that.

Good luck in your endeavors. I can't even imagine exercising without my IPod shuffle, the one machine solely responsible for my being fit!!

Nola,

Green Day's 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' would be great.

I Wanna Be Sedated, Blitzkrieg Bop, Cretin Hop... They are great for sprints--short and fast.

I also really like Chris Isaak's version of the old Cheap Trick song, "I Want You to Want Me": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBXwuNDVAwM

29. I have Comcast complete with music channels........
For me, I just pick the 70's channel or Blues or classic old R&B. I am pretty much on board with any kind of old school R&B/Motown. Kool and the Gang, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ohio Players, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Billy Preston, Wilson Pickett, Aretha...shoot - sometimes I even crank up some ole Jerry Lee Lewis.....I just can NOT seem to stand still when I listen to "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On!" :-)
