Chelsea HANDLER was just totally snarky and rude to Regis, Kelly, & Doris DAY
Edited on Mon May-09-11 10:24 AM by UTUSN
I watch her show and know what she does and I like her. I know she's tough and brutal, but most of the time I like her choice of targets.

So she's peddling a book and here she was with Regis and Kelley, the nicest people, really. And they welcomed her warmly and tried their damnedest to be nice to her, maybe a bit warily (with reason, as it turned out). When Regis held up her book with her picture on the cover, he said that she looks like Doris DAY.

Now, those of us of a certain age carry a fondness for Ms DAY, despite my regret over her wingnuttiness, and this was WITHOUT A DOUBT a compliment, Ms DAY having been a great beauty, and, when the media swamps us with her retrospectives when she passes, a magnificent talent and voice, for the young to find out.

So Chelsea acted, like, "Ewww," and said, "Doris DAY?!1 She was from YOUR time, way before MY time!1"

Then she went on to casually brag about having grown up in NanBucket or some place "where my parents had a summer place" neighbors with Carly SIMON.

So Regis and Kelley just sank into reading off scripted questions for her to recite well trodden bits from the book, including a long and lame thing about lying to a boyfriend.

The bigger you are, the nicer you are and she came off as very small.

1. She's entertaining sometimes.
I don't know how much of her on-air personality is real and how much is an act. But if it is remotely real, I don't think I would enjoy being around her very much.

3. Yip, link from IMDb:

staunch supporter of the Republican Party, and told the press she voted for George W. Bush in the 2000 presidential election.

Telephoned the White House to personally explain to President George W. Bush her reasons for not attending her award presentation in June 2004, and said she was praying hard that he would be elected to a second term of office in November.

Plus, LIMBOsevic often bragged that she was his fan and was phone pals with his mother, saying, "Doris, why don't you call when I'm on the line?"

4. Never heard of her. And, if she's that much of an ass, apparently my window
of opportunity is going to be all too small.

5. Being inappropriately rude is part of her schtick.
It's really difficult to determine if she's being coarse or not from the times I've seen her. Like Sarah Silverman, her bit is kind of that you wouldn't expect such caustic language to come from such a sweet looking girl. I didn't see the interview, but I'm guessing she was trying to be funny rather than rude.

He's a jerk, a namedropper and full of himself. That said, shame on Chelsea.

11. I watch Regis and Kelly almost every day
But somehow did not watch this episode. I agree about Regis. I think he is mean. He slipped up on Osama-Obama the other day. :eyes:
I never got Regis' appeal. Then why do I watch everyday??? I don't know. I just like the show!

12. I watch every day too...

Plus, he gave the Packers hardly any credit. x(
I am addicted to the show as well. Who do you want to replace him?

I would love for it to be Neil Patrick Harris. I think, if they put Mark Consuelos on it would be too much of him and Kelly talking about their lives. I think there is something to the "What did you do last night?" segment that is special.

13. NPH would be awesome.
But don't see how he would be able to manage that. Doesn't he tape his sitcom in LA?

I actually like Mark, though I agree it would be too much talking about their lives.
I also like when Michael Strahan makes appearances. He would be an interesting choice.

9. I love Chelsea
She wasn't bragging about where she grew up. She grew in New Jersey, which she often makes fun of. In her books, she described the summer house her parents owned on Martha's Vineyard as a dump. She also didn't bring it up, Regis did.
