I bought this tarp. Am I being too nitpicky?
I need a tarp EXACTLY 10' long.
I won't bore you with the details of the project requirements.
But the damn thing needed to be AT LEAST 10'.

I went to Lowe's and bought a 10' X 8' tarp.
The label read "10 X 8" FINISHED SIZE".
Perfect.

Got it home and spread it out in the sun for a couple of hours to get the creases out.
When I tried to cover the project, it was too short.
By 3 inches.
Those are a crucial 3 inches.

So, instead of a 10' tarp, I have a 9' 9" tarp.
Useless for me.

Should I return it?
Or just buy a larger tarp?
:-(

2. Measure twice. Cut once. Return it -- 9' 9" is NOT 10 feet. n/t

4. Absolutely return it. Absolutely. They get away with this shit
because they make it such a hassle for us to return it. Easier to just buy a larger one. Piss on them. You gave them money for something, and it was not what it said it was, and you really think that you should not call them on it?

7. Sounds like they messed up the language on the package. Finished tarps are usually a few inches ...
smaller because they start out with a 10x8 piece of material but when they put the hems in the finished size is 10' minus the hems.

8. I returned it. No problem, but...
The returns clerk was just stony faced.
Totally devoid of expression.
No small talk.
I guess she was bored out of her mind.

I was explaining why I was returning it and it became clear that she did not give a ratz ass.
So I just quit talking.
The only words she uttered were "Sign here.", when she'd printed the refund slip.

I dunno.
Maybe if I had her job I'd feel the same way?
Whatever.

9. But their 2x4s are not 2"x4"
The measurement might be before finishing (like the Quarter Pound burger is "before cooking").

So don't get too bent out of shape, but definitely return it. Don't make a federal case out of it. Just tell them it's not what you expected.
