How did they refinish wood floors before power tools?
It's hard work and time consuming even with the latest power tools.

1. They hired people or they bought slaves to do the hard work??

For those who could not afford to do that, they would have rough floors or dirt floors.

We are talking the 1800's and before??

2. They had something like a bicycle with a large tube that was coated with sandpaper..
.. attached to the chain (took the place of the back wheel). You pedaled across the floor and sanded at the same time.

4. A lot of times they didn't.
Walking on a plank floor would smooth it out over time.
