Houston might FINALLY get some RAIN...
...maybe. Sigh. I'll believe it when I see it. :)

1. Well?
Anything happen?

We need rain, too, but it's been better this year so far.

2. We got a rainstorm yesterday. It wasn't much, but it had been something
like three months without rain. I was watering the foundation on the house to keep it from cracking.

5. Oh god, I remember watering the foundation!
I saw some storms going over Houston on the weather this evening and was hoping you were getting some good rain. My sister is there and says it is about as bad as she has seen it in 30 years there. Lost many of her old plants between freezes and the drought.

And we have too much water here in W PA! Feast or famine. And I remember a lot of the "feast" times in Houston too. I just hope that if and when you get some rain, it is not all at once.

6. The first year I lived here we had a rain that lasted 5 days.
And it was a rain. It's how I found out (the hard way) that the builder forgot to put flashing around the chimney. Nothing like come home to a bulging wall in a new home. It's amazing watching the flooding stories everywhere and then seeing the dry everywhere around here.

Thanks Curmudgeoness. Yours is one of my favorite DU names.

8. I hope that house was still warrantied. Those builders
are often useless there, and too few requirements. They can do anything. God, the things I learned along the way! I was so young and dumb when I bought my house there.

And if you knew me, you would understand the DU name. It always ticked me off that a cranky older man had such a cool name, and us cranky older women----well we are just old maids or biddies or some such demeaning term.

9. It was warrantied and I had had an inspection.
I know what you mean about some of the builders. Luckily, I am a real estate appraiser. Although it is tough to buy something from 1400 miles away. I looked at it several times, but it is still a scary proposition.

My old DU name was MrsGrumpy.

4. It's the height of the dry season here on the central FL Gulf Coast too.
Hot. But with a sea breeze. Even so, I think it hit 92 today.

Two to four weeks before rainy season. Sigh. Need to get a place to flee to in the summer . . . .

7. It's been crazy warm and windy here.
Hope we all get relief soon.
