found a an old silver neck chain of mine today going thru some old stuff. well tarnished. any easy

way of cleaning it? gonna start wearing it again.

you don't have a commercial product available. I cant recommend one in particular since i don't have bookmarks on this comp. I'd look for one with user comments. Once cleaned, silver will store well, and stay tarnish free in ziplock bags. :)

i think i'm going back to wearing silver jewelry, after gold for many years.

and for silver adn other tarnishables, just generic toothpaste (I think regular, like crest, not gelly types) did better than comercially available products, and for stones and such, a soft toothbrush and water and mild soap were better than commercially available products.

I've always used toothpaste on my silver jewelry when it tarnishes. Never had a problem, and it makes your jewelry smell nice :)

I'll squeeze some TP on a rag, rub it on the jewelry, then gently buff off with a damp rag to remove any residue.

i dont have any baking soda or tin foil on me, but got toothpaste and brushes.

toothpaste will also clean the tarnish but it is more work

soak in a little warm water and ammonia (wait let me guess - nobody uses ammonia anymore, right?)

I'd suggest getting a cleaner specifically made for silver - maybe even from a jeweler.

I get it at the grocery store. A clear liquid, pour into a glass bowl, load in the silver. Works a treat.
I have bought loads of tarnished silver at the second hand store and they come out looking like new.
Just don't tell the store owner about it and you can make some really great deals. Everyone hates polishing silver.

Those cloth thinggys really work though. You may want to invest in one of those.

That is the type of wrong usage of stuff that is irritating. Although the people selling them really believe it, they are tricked to make the whole concept seem stupid, is my guess.

Basically they get a napkin, and get either a thought put in there head, or some thought they think occurs. So they think the prayer napkin works. Why? So they will try to sell it and make many look foolish.

The thing is, it really did work for them in there perspective, but the reason was not what they thought.

Why you need reason also, in my view.




If someone has a material item to help them focus in meditation or prayer, that is one thing, but someone selling the stuff and living outside of a modest income from those sales, doesn't seem right.


On a side note, I am due beer and travel money, and many experiences.

i think i got a little needle-nose pliers around here somewhere....
