1. Six Feet Under
this series was one of the very best ever! It showed families in ways I hadn't seen before on tv - in a real way. I loved that show so much. amazing writing! I really cared about their lives.

2. One of the greatest shows ever, and the best series finale ever.
Don't look it up on YouTube. Just watch all five seasons so you can build up to it, especially those last five minutes.

4. Best series of all (next to the truncated "Carnivale"....)
Beautifully written and acted, with a
fabulous ensemble cast.

After those two, I'd recommend "The Wire"...

18. At least Carnivale had something close to a conclusion.
Deadwood ended with so much about to happen.

19. At least with Deadwood, you could crack open a history book and see what happened...

Carnivale was supposed to run for 4 more seasons,
and the wrap up was so unsatisfying, I felt like
I had mentally fallen off of a cliff.

7. The first season is outstanding. After that, the show crumbles like a house of cards...
Season 1: a great, complex, multi-layered drama with interesting, multi-dimensional characters.

After that, it turns into a soap opera with ridiculous storylines and all the characters become so messed up that you quickly lose interest in them.

9. I, too, thought it was great...
It is basically about a family who happen to own a funeral home. But it's just their job (somebody's got to do it). So yes, there are some strange episodes just due to that fact alone. The family all have their own "unique" personalities. I think the characters are great. Worth checking out. (Dexter (if you watch that) is one of the brothers in it)). He is great in this too. Enjoy!

11. It's magnificent. Watch it NOW.
Like most series there's a little bobble in the middle but the stories and characters are just wonderful and it has perhaps the best ending of any series ever.

And it's both morose and humorous in generous measure. And a lot more.
