can someone help me with an ipod problem?
Good evening DU.
I have an ipod and have purchased music from amazon and istore. I have used my laptop and pc to purchase music. I can't seem to get my ipod to play / store music from both collections.

Can anyone walk me through this problem?

2. Have you tried setting up iTunes to load the music to the iPod manually
rather than having it load automatically? Also, you can set up folders in iTunes and put the music in those folders so that's how it will be arranged when it appears in the iPod. That's not very coherent but I'm not sure how else to explain it.

3. Could you give a little background on what you've attempted so far?
Typically, if you have iTunes installed on your computer, you can just drag and drop the music files from wherever they are on your computer and it will convert them automatically.

If you haven't already got it worked out, please feel free to post a little more detail and I'm sure folks will stop by to give suggestions!

6. I've read 3 replies so far that have to do with the computer, is it the iPod itself?
It may need to be re-charged, or even re-set. Turn it off with the stop/pause until you see the battery charging icon while plugged into your computer or power adapter.

If it's fully charged, it might need to be re-set. Mine has a small brass-colored button on top that must be held down *hard* to get it to start working again. First it'll show an apple icon on the screen, then will show that it needs charging, or simply begin working OK.

Your iPod should not see no difference between an Amazon or iTunes gathered mp3; it will take your CDs, podcasts, movies if they are mp4s, audiobooks, etc. if they are in your iTunes library. They will go on your iPod, along with the pictures you select.

If they are not loading, it is because you do not have the tiny boxes checked on the playlists you should have created when you added the music to your library. If they are not going onto your iPod automatically, check those boxes to see if you did so. I have to un-check a lot since my iTunes library exceeds my iPod's capacity.

When your iPod is hooked up to your computer with the USB cord, your iPod will show on the left above your playlists, near the iTunes store and other items. Click on it and your iTunes library will show it in the window and you can check on and off the songs, movies, etc. in the tabs available for each function you do or don't want.

There is a Macintosh User's Forum in case this gets moved and for more Mac questions, but I hope we helped you here:

8. here is the problem-
Edited on Mon May-23-11 11:38 AM by mdmc
when I connect my ipod to my laptop, a pop up states "this ipod is currently linked to another itunes library.."

Is it true that since I purchased music from two different machines (my laptop and my pc) I cannot have music from both spots on my ipod at the same time?

I am only missing one album from my laptop (John Lennon - bought on amazon). Everything else seemed to transfer from my pc to my laptop.

9. You should be able to put music from both iTunes libraries on your iPod if you...
set your iPod Preferences (in iTunes) to "Manually Manage Songs and Playlists"

The "Manual Mode" setting travels with the iPod, so it will be set to manual mode on any computer you connect it to.

Once in manual mode, you can drag and drop music onto your iPod from any iTunes library. However, it should be noted that you will lose any automatic synchronization with iTunes (which means playlists won't be automatically updated, and ratings and playcounts won't be passed back to iTunes.)

Also, should you ever turn on Automatic Synchronization again, you will lose any music you've added manually.

I would look into consolidating your music into one master iTunes library.

10. thank you for the reply
I solved the problem this way -
I burned a cd from my pc, then played the cd in my laptop.
Now I have everything on my laptop.

Regarding your advice to consolidate my library - I think I have done so, but it is on my cheap ass laptop. Is there a better way? Of course I'm no techie but I am tryin out new stuff..

thank again and peace..
