1. Since we have rec and unrec, it seems like we should have the opposite of kick as well

Perhaps 'stomp' - which knocks a thread down to the bottom of a page. And if it's at the bottom of one page, the next 'stomp' sends it to the bottom of the next... Waddyathink? (If DU adopts it, I want royalties!)

2. I'd prefer the ability to edit other people's posts, but stomp is a pretty good idea.
