1. "Sent home to die"
That's basically it.

I have an irregular heartbeat / murmur, coupled with ridiculously high blood pressure.

About ten years ago, when I could still afford Blue Cross, I went to a local heart specialist. I ended up going to the hospital for a batter of tests, all of which concluded with me finding out that I do not have "heart disease" or a heart problem requiring surgery...I just have an irregular heartbeat and high blood pressure.

My doctor put me on medication that basically cost $3 a day for ONE PILL. Even when he split the prescription into generics, it only shaved a couple of cents off the price.

But when I was visiting the heart specialist, I found out that the walls of his examining rooms were PAPER THIN.

There was an older gentleman being examined in the next room.

He complained that he had to come to the office, pay his $10 deductible, only to be given a prescription for pills that weren't working.

This motherfucker of a doctor basically told him that the insurance company looked at his age, at his condition, and they;re doing all they intend to do. If he'd like, he can see the receptionist when he leaves and get a refund of his $10 from the last visit.

"Go home and die."

Ain't that America, for you and me?

Kali, your anger and sadness is well placed.

:grr:

2. The fucking insurance company just tripled the cost of my blood pressure pill AND...
They're going to force me to use mail order now and charge up to $20/month for what used to cost me $3.00.

Fuck insurance companies.

Please either reply or PM him or me. I will try to help if I can.

7. The problem isn't so much the insurance companies.
It's us.

Most Americans (as in, over 50%) have an attitude of "I have insurance, fuck everyone else!" or "I'm in good health, fuck everyone else!".

Until that attitude is overcome, we will not have true progress in this country, in health care or anything else.
