What does it mean when someone types a 1 (one) after and exclamation
mark (!) or a question mark (?)? The end result looks like words here!1 - or - are there words here?1

I see this frequently.

13. OMZ, how mean!1
I do it all the time now (proving your point?!1) now, along with the rest of DU Lexicon (as explained by most of the posters, below).

I'm an erratic poster, sometimes spending much time and literate effort on some posts, only to see them sink like STONES, other times posting something like performance art that is totally off the wall that attracts FLAMING hatred in scores of responses. Although kind and comprehending souls can detect a thread of reason in my bad posts, for some reason they elicit withering contempt, haughtiness, and scorn in the flamers with judgments about my supposedly being illiterate, moronic, and otherwise mentally impaired.

Most of the explanations of "!1" below work for me, although one criticism of my use of it was that it is supposed to be solely for sarcasm. For me it's more like enthusiasm. When I ask a serious (not "series") question or exclaim sincerely, I use the proper ? and !, respectively.

For the O.P. in case of running across one of my posts: I use all caps NOT "randomly" as I am also accused of doing, but: 1) For emphasis (not "shouting") in faster typing instead of inserting codes for Bold or Italic, and 2) for SURNAMES, because that's what we did in the Navy and I thought it was cool. Plus, I slash my zeros and capital Z.

My little idiosyncracies are my own and the intensity of flaming hatred they sometimes elicit mystifies me. I *do* get irritated with the little idiosyncracies of others, such as dotting i with little hearts or flowers. But I add, I don't lash out with slashing hatred!1

10. Silly case. The whole family didn't want charges pressed at all.
It was a fairly big story around here, and there was quite a bit of news coverage yesterday. I watched some of it, but didn't follow the story that intently. It's playoff season, I'm not following anything without a puck all that closely right now. :)

7. Listen to Kali. It's just harmless Net Speak.
I don't know how these things get started, but I'm fascinate by pop culture and the quickness of the internet. That one's stuck around a surprisingly long time.
