It was in the late 70's, and I don't remember who the DJ was but I didn't consider him to be a dickhead like Howard Stern was at the time. I don't remember how he set up the joke, but it had to do with a platoon of black men in Viet Nam and the movie was "A Pack-O-Lips Now". I was in high school at the time and not shocked by much, but that floored me. It wouldn't shock me to hear that Rush had said something like that yesterday, but that was just out of line in every way it could be, even back then. He wasn't off of the air the next day so I'll assume there was no penalty for the offense.

I've never seen the movie, and unfortunately the reason is in large part because of that asshole DJ. Now I'm angry again. :grr: I have little or no tolerance for racism.

On Edit: I don't remember when the movie came out, so it might have been early 80's and after I was out of high school and in a steady job - but that doesn't change anything about how it makes me feel. :grr:

So many great lines in this film.

In the entire scheme of things, this film explained to me what
was meant by the term "surrealism".

I'm watching it now.

The helicopter attack is still one of the greatest battle scenes ever filmed.

But a knowledge of geography ruins the film for me. There is no way to take a boat from the coast north of Nha Trang upriver to Cambodia. Mountains block the way.

I wonder if Brokaw knew his "Greatest Generation let's remember our heroic men and women in uniform" cutaways were becoming pure irony when juxtaposed with the chaos of AN.

Very surreal.
Especially the 'fade to black' end.
Definitely (IMHO) an anti-war film.
