1. Next time try the chicken soup that has the coconut milk in it.
It is so good your eyes will roll back in your head.

8. Tilapia coated in corn meal and parmesan cheese with a coconut/curry sauce
brown rice and sauteed green beans and mushrooms. I don't get done with chores until 6 so I can't start dinner til then. I had defrosted the fish and was going to just make it plain when I decided to see if there was a more interesting way to make it. The first cookbook I pulled down was Home Cooking the Costco way. (I used the recipe for the Tilapia Sliders to do the fish (pg 47) and the curry sauce and green beans on pg 158 if anyone's interested). I had most of the ingredients and voila!

Yum! Even my fussy 14 yr old ate it. Of course it took me an hour to figure it all out - I'm a cooking dork and this is a "fancy" recipe for us, probably should have taken 15 - 20 for those who are good cooks - so we were REALLY hungry by then.

Tomorrow night it's back to mac and cheese....

10. Pasta
Cooked with a handful of California slaw mix then tossed with a spoon of margarine, a few dashes of garlic powder, Italian seasoning, this awesome cheap steak seasoning, chopped cooked egg, a splash of canned milk and a few shakes from the Parmesan cheese shaker. Poor people's gourmet.

15. We have of all things a combo German/Thai place in a neighboring town.
It's actually pretty amazing.

For one thing when you are there the first time and ask about the beer on tap....they'll bring you 4 itty bitty beer mugs about the size of shot glasses so you can sample them. And they'll tell you a little about each one including the one from the upstart brewery that only started around 1600 or so.
