Alright, chime in if you enjoy cold weather
Now that I'm in this Stygian nightmare known as deep summer, I need to know whether there's at least one soul out there who loves Autumn, Winter, Spring...or any goddamn season where you can actually see your breath in the air instead of panting from the stifling, hellish heat and humidity.

Anyone else dreaming of a white Christmas?

1. I could live near Hudson Bay and be totally happy.
Anything over 50 degrees and I start complaining. Can't stand summer.

Your words will sustain me, when I wake up tomorrow morning in a goddamn 80 degree bedroom.

28. 80 degree bedroom?
Are you hiding in the house where I'm pet sitting? Their a/c unit is nowhere near large enough for this huge house. Later this week it's supposed to be 100 degrees outside for a few days. Will probably be 84 or so in the house by the time I go to bed.

I even hang sheets in the windows to keep out the sun, but it really doesn't help all that much.

And what's worse, I've been trying to lose weight for the last couple of years (lost 40 so far), but I still have close to 20 more to go. Jesus, Tae-Bo is hard enough without the house being above 80!

Fall is coming, fall is coming, fall is coming...:o

2. I can't say that I *love* cold weather - it gets pretty tedious around here
Edited on Sun Jul-17-11 09:53 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
by February - but I can tolerate it a lot better than hot weather. If it's cold you can put on more clothes, but if it's hot all you can do is sit and sweat.

On the other hand, I really enjoy summer as long as it doesn't get too hot and humid.

4. Me! Ohmygawd ME!! I HATE the heat. Hate it. I am miserable.
As an Irishwoman give me 50 and rainy any day of the week and I'm fine. Even Chicago winters are better than what we've been getting. If I wanted South Carolina in July, I'd have moved to South Carolina for fucks sake!

44. You learn to be prepared.
If you dress properly the cold isn't bad at all. In the heat, on the other hand, you can walk around in your birthday suit and still be suffering.

45. Yeah. This.
Sometimes I love the heat, sometimes I hate it (although I would feel really bad complaining about the heat we just had - humidity too, which is rare for here - since our heat is nothing compared to down in the US), sometimes I love the cold, sometimes I hate it. -50 sucks. So does + 40 (celcius).

At least in the winter I can sleep at night though. I don't have AC (not many people here do, although it's becoming more popular) so night is bad. I have one of those memory foam mattresses, and it totally traps your body heat. At least I know now that if it's -50 and the furnace goes out, all I have to do is wrap myself in my mattress and I will be toasty warm.

10. I don't mind cold.
"You can only take so many clothes off"

That's my motto.

I'd be more than happy to be a nudist in constant 75 degree F, but the fact is, I can always put on anther layer when it's cold. I can't take off ALL the layers when it's hot.

16. here..this heat sucks, the bugs suck, having to take several showers
because your clothes sticking to you constantly sucks, and the fact that I need the air running constantly in order for me to fall asleep at night ( there is nothing worse than laying on a bed and the sheets sticking to your skin )and end up with a huge electric bill because of it sucks. This heat can literally go fuck itself

Fall is my favorite time of year, though

21. Define cold?
I like cool weather. Which is good because I live in the UK now, it's 55F outside at the moment and the annual temperature range is generally from lows of a bit below freezing in winter to maybe 60's Fahrenheit in summer with a few days to a few weeks over 70F (it can get up to the 80's F but it's not common).

37. 55 is insane for this time of the year
I am stunned, I always would have thought the UK would be similar to NY. Why is it so much colder? It's not that far up North to have similar Summer temps to Alaska. Anchorage, Alaska is 54 right now.

41. All of the UK is at 50 degrees north latitude or higher
Edited on Tue Jul-19-11 02:45 PM by Spider Jerusalem
Ten degrees of latitude north of NYC. And the UK is also an island, and directly in the path of the North Atlantic Ocean Current (which makes the summers milder, generally, than on the continent). Also the west coasts of continents have milder climates than the east coasts (because of the rotation of the earth and prevailing winds); the UK climate is more comparable to Seattle, or San Francisco, or Vancouver, than to anywhere on the eastern seaboard of the US. See here.

75 degrees are uncomfortable, my preferred range is about 40 to 60 degrees. But I can also handle the freezing temps, snow and ice much better than I can tolerate heat. I'm a real homebody during the summer months, I dread going outside.

38. I like weather, doesn't matter -- I don't get it...all this bitching about the weather --
I enjoy each season for what it has to offer that the others don't. I like living in a place that has four distinct and separate seasons. When it is hot, I enjoy the water and the ceiling fans and the cool of the night and early morning.
When it is cold, I enjoy the warmth of heavy blankets.
When it is the mild spring and fall, I enjoy having a reduced power bill.

40. Nah. Grew up in SoCal, now live in SoFla.
Between those two places, I spent four years each in Colorado and Missouri. I never got used to winters. It's one thing to, as you can in California, go visit the snow up in the mountains -- say hi, throw a few snowballs around, etc -- and then go home. It's another thing entirely to shovel that crap out of your driveway and scrape ice off your windshield. Never again.

I don't like it over 90, or even lower if it's very humid. Who likes being sticky all the time? If I lived in a hot weather climate I'd miss the change of seasons . . . I adore the snow. When people brag about living in those hot-year-round places it just makes me happier to be from where I am.
