I Watched a Pot, and It Boiled Anyhow
Yup. I had about 3-1/2 cups of water in it, turned on the gas and waited. Then I saw it! The first sign of boiling. I continued to watch, and the boiling continued. A short while later, the pot was merrily a-boil.

So there!

I have disproved a myth

2. No. You're just wrong: it didn't boil; it actually froze. Everyone knows hot water freezes faster
than cold -- so the hotter it is, the faster it freezes: turn up the heat and watch that stuff freeze!

Your post is an unscientific example of you seeing something that just ain't so

3. But seeing is believing, you know. Or rather, we filter what we see by our belief system, that is...
We convince ourselves that whatever we saw doesn't disturb that. Or if we were troglodytes repukes, this quotation would apply:

“You know the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They both don’t alter their views to fit the facts. They alter facts to fit their views… Which can be very uncomfortable if you’re one of the facts that needs altering.”

Since in my lifetime, a number of persons have felt that I needed altering or perhaps even nonexistencee to preserve their world view, I have learned to avoid the very powerful and the very stupid. Such as all members of the Tea Party, etc. No use courting disaster.

So, our OP writer may not be capable to see the water objectively as you say, and will never see it any other way.

I prefer to accept my lack of objectivity and view reality as a subjective experience only. That way, I am supreme ruler of my reality, no matter how bogus it may be.

This works as long as I don't talk to anyone else but the voices in my head. As since that rhymes with where I should now be, I will soon repair to bed.

Have a great evening or perhaps the morning as the case may be, struggle4progress. I do enjoy your posts here and there, and I hope you have enjoyed my post here.

5. Here's your problem. That wasn't a POT.
3 1/2 cups? That ain't a pot. I believe the saying is "a watched POT never boils." That wasn't a pot.

7. I believe the water, not the pot, boiled. Who's with me?

8. I'll gamble on that assumption within our mass consensus version of reality.

OTOH, the water was merely trying to escape from the PAN, as the group appears to have decided, and not a POT.

9. Thanks. You just upset the balance of the entire universe.
You weren't suppose to do that.

Just great.

I hope you're happy now.

My 17-year old Beagle, Molly, recently learned how to fetch a newspaper. She'd never done that before.

16. Not true
The saying is actually: "A watched pot never boils over."
That part of the Rosetta stone was broken off....
