I think I might have a baby raccoon in the vine on my porch.

It's dark out there but I have been hearing the oddest sounds coming from near the porch roof. Not a bird. Do squirrels make high pitched chattering noises? It is such a funny sound it makes me laugh when I hear it. For three nights now it has been going on. I have never seen a raccoon in the village but anything is possible I guess. :shrug: I am too scared to shine a flash light on the spot where the noise is coming from.

2. Close but not quite.

It's almost a high pitched turkey gobble sort of sound. Hard to describe. I am going to ask amerikat to come over tomorrow night and help me solve the mystery. I will keep you posted.

3. If it defecated on your porch, take extreme caution because raccoon poop

contains a neuro-toxin. Lots of info on line on how to collect and despose of it. It probably hasn't because they tend to have latrines they always go back to, but there's always exceptions. I don't mean to alarm you but a lot of people are not aware of the danger raccoon poop poses.

7. Your dad didn't tell you that the flashlight revealed mating raccoons? Dads are like that.

I lived in a little house built over a little creek. Raccoons screamed under the house- I always thought they were fighting over crayfish or something. Now I know what they were up to. ;)
