Please Vote In Poll - re: new law Pledge To Be Said In All CO School
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/education/2407889/detail.html

A judge has issued an injunction due to a filing by ACLU - I have a real problem with this being a law.

Gov. Bill Owens called the ruling "out of step."

It's pretty close, vote today

2. That law is insane and will and canot stand.
There are all types of children that go to public school whose parents will protest this, starting with atheists, children whose parents are working in the US temporarily, those whose religion oppose them pledging allegiance to anyone or anything but God. That's a start and I am sure there are more that could be added.

3. 45% NO when I voted
but 50% YES. When I taught school, we usually didn't say the pledge-I have Jehovah's Witnesses in my class, and I wasn't so cool with it either, what with Watergate happening. Sometimes we'd sing a patriotic song, like "This Land is Your Land"-yep, that's me, subverting the kiddies in the 70s.

4. I don't have a problem
with it being offered as it kind of instills a bit of grounding...I like a little predictable ritual in my life. It should not ever be a requirement. I enjoy saying grace before meals, bedtime prayer and having a gentleman open a door for me now and then.

I would be outraged if the pledge was a law.

5. I'm just surprised we don't have to sing . . .
Deutchland Uber Alles here in CO these days.
