Looking for list of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan
I can find the list of American soldiers killed in Iraq in several places but I have had absolutely no luck locating a listing of names of those who have been killed in Afghanistan. Searches on numerous search engines have failed to produce anything. Does anyone know where those names might be?

3. Yes, Iraq is (relatively) easy to find
But it's as if Afghanistan doesn't exist. Wouldn't you think that on that WashPost page, they should just have another link to "faces of the fallen" in Afghanistan? None of the Iraq lists that I know of have such a link.

2. Listing them might erode support for the war on terror

Almost no crusaders have been killed in Afghanistan, and the few that have died accidentally of non-combat related causes. There are fewer western reporters there.

One U.S. Soldier Killed in Latest Afghan Violence

Thu August 21, 2003 01:03 PM ET

BAGRAM, Afghanistan (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier died from wounds and another was slightly injured by a bomb in separate incidents in the same Afghanistan province, the U.S. military said on Thursday.

"A special operations service member died as a result of injuries received during operations in the vicinity of Orgun, in Paktika Province, Afghanistan yesterday (Wednesday)," the statement on the U.S. military's Central Command Web site said.

It said the soldier's name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The statement comes after earlier comments from U.S. military officials who said a U.S. soldier was slightly wounded by a bomb while on patrol in southeastern Afghanistan and at least three Afghan civilians were hurt when a U.S. military helicopter fired on their car.

5. yes, I can find individual articles
about the deaths of individual soldiers. But I cannot find a list of all the soldier casualties in Afghanistan although they are commonplace for the deaths in Iraq.

I've now spent about 8 hours on-line searching for such a list, with no luck.

6. Here's the answer
Stupid me. I asked here before asking my sister (DU's remfan), the hands-down best Internet researcher I know. She found the list here:

Once again, I am in awe of her abilities.
