When will bush drop out?
I was thinking that they will probably wait until it is clear who the democratic nominee will be, and then something will cause bush to have to drop out. Maybe some sudden heart condidtion (like they will find out he has one) or a need to devote more time to the family.

This will probably happen around March 2004. As soon as he announces he has to drop out, he'll through his support and money to whoever cheney and company have decided should be the next face for the party.

There won't be enough time for any other republican's to get organized, and the new republican will be able to distance himself from the bush economy, the bush disaster in iraq, the bush failure to find Osama, and the general bush failure to lead our nation.

So what do you think?
Is it possible?
Who would they pick to run against each of the dems?
When will it happen?

1. Authoritarians don't back out voluntarily.
No matter what kind of damage they've done. If the Bush league sees a real threat from the left, they'll just attack harder.

he does what the neo-cons tell him ot do so it is possible that he could drop out of the race.

4. Now there's a happy thought!
But I also shudder to think who the neocons would appoint in his place...

5. he won't get out of the race in fact...
I think his free fall in the polls will stabilize and as people get there refund checks and there may be a temporary spurt of economic activity with it he may actually begin to rise slightly in the polls--but it will not last.

7. Why would he drop out?
"When will bush drop out?"

Why? He still polls in the 50's. He has a fairly solid base of support. He is popular enough with the Republican faithful to raise huge amounts of money. Why would he drop out?

"So what do you think?"

I think your dreaming.

"Is it possible?"

No.

"Who would they pick to run against each of the dems?"

He is not going to drop out. If you were right and he did the circumstances would have to be really bad for the Republicans (much, much worse than they are now) - so I'd guess they'd have to go with McCain. The GOP base doesn't like him much, but if it were the only way they could hold on to power it wouldn't surprise me if they rolled out the red carpet for him. Perhaps McCain/Powell?

"When will it happen?"

Never.

"distance himself from the bush economy"

It is too early to know whether or not the economy will improve. The economic situation as it stands now will hurt him some, but I don't think it makes it impossible for him to win. Sitting Presidents are hard to beat - bad economy or no bad economy.

"the bush disaster in iraq"

Over 60% of Americans still support the war in Iraq and our current occupation. How does this hurt him yet? And you don't know what the situation will be a year from now.

"the bush failure to find Osama"

I have seen no sign that most Americans are particularly angry at Bush for this. Quite frankly, I think Bush is better off with Osama still missing in action. So long as OBL is not found the public will continue to worry just a little bit more about terrorism and national security issues which the GOP believes is their strong suit.

"and the general bush failure to lead our nation"

The polls still indicate the majority of the public do think he is leading the nation reasonably well. Perhaps Americans won't feel that way in a year, but we won't know till then.

Bush is just not going to drop out unless there is actual, provable evidence he commited crimes.
